888 has no idea where he came from. He knows he's different from other canines and that he must have been made. Other than that, how he was created and why is a complete mystery. 888 is a mere few months old, and still very naive about the world. Since he looks at everything from a logical perspective, there are many things in this world that don't make sense to him.

Unlike the early mechanized canines, 888 has been programmed with emotions. However, since these too are so new to him, he experiences them on a much deeper level than most. Think about how happy you feel drinking your favorite beverage, multiply that by 100, and you will be able to understand how 888 feels. Even more exciting, he has all five senses. 888 can eat and taste food. A compartment in his haunches stores the chewed food and dumps it when full. He can't actually process or use the food, but is able to experience the act of eating and tasting.

Others often try to take advantage of him due to his ignorance and how easily he trusts others. However, 888 is very confident is his abilities and able to easily get himself out of most situations. He is incredibly strong and is able to lift cars and bite through metal. Rumor has it, his eyes can even shoot laser beams.

One of 888's weaknesses lies in his dependence on power. He runs on a battery, which occasionally needs to be charged. The battery drains faster the more he exerts himself. For example, if he holds up a car for 20 minutes, his battery will drain at an exceptional rate. When depleted, the neon blue light will slowly fade and he will become inert. Essentially, it's like a computer shutting down. If someone tries to scavenge him for parts or open his body plating in any way, 888 has one last protection: a self-destruct sequence. You see, 888's creator did not wish to risk anyone else getting their hands on 888's tech. So rather than allow others to copy his work, he would destroy him altogether.

Currently, 888 is on a quest to find someone who can customize his body plating with solar panels or another source of renewable energy. His battery life sometimes depletes at extremely inopportune times and he rather likes living.
