Profile

Name: Alexei Dupont

Race: Vampire

Age: 187 (Turned at 19)

Birthday: August 13th

Occupation: Financial Adviser

Nationality: French

Alliance: The Covenant

Height: 5'8"

Weight: 149 lbs

Eye Color: Red

Hair Color: Black

Blood Type: O

Gift:

Molecular Velocity Manipulation (Teleportation)

:bulletwhite: Alex has the ability to change the speed at which his molecules are vibrating. This means he can move so quickly that he seems to teleport, doing so by changing his shape into what is fundamentally a gas and shooting the loose molecules across the room.
:bulletwhite: He cannot do this though walls, but can pass through cracks and holes this way.
:bulletwhite: He can also use this to glide/float above the ground, but he cannot fly (at least not continuously, if he wanted, he could teleport over and over though the air, but it would exhaust him).
:bulletwhite: Alex cannot "take somebody with him" when teleporting. It took him long enough to figure out how to take his clothes with him, much less a whole person.
:bulletwhite: His maximum distance is about 50 feet and that is only when he is well-fed. A normal teleport for him hardly exceeds 20 feet.
:bulletwhite: Because of the high speed of the vibrations right before a teleport, Alex becomes extremely hot to the touch, like steam, so he usually seems standoffish about being touched in general. He cannot use this as a weapon, however, since vibrating for longer periods than what is needed for a teleport risks the chance of him setting himself on fire.

Weapon: Small blades, throwing knives, etc. (when he can find and conceal them)

Personality:

Vain, posh and refined, Alex is a bit on the pretentious side. He tries not to be, he tries to dumb himself down and joke and smile, but on the inside he is a bitter old man who has had just about enough of everything life has to offer. Because of this, he prefers the finer things in life: things he's earned or finally has all the time in the world to enjoy. He's traveled, he's perfected an art or two (violin, piano, reading, writing, sciences...), he's eaten all kinds of things, all that's left is to relax and enjoy eternity with a good book, a hot bath and an expensive bottle of wine. Because of this, he comes off as lazy and entitled, but he dismisses it, lets people think what they think and changes little of anything.

However, due to his age and his wisdom, he's good at giving advice and enjoys helping others as best he can, as long as it doesn't require anything physical from him. Financial affairs are his forte (hey, when you're a rich asshole, you learn how to keep your money in check) and he's very greedy with his money (and sometimes even the money of others). Advice, yes, but you'll have to pay him.

He's very social, loves parties, loves making new acquaintances, loves people watching, loves humans with their finite lives and interesting, fleeting stories of love, passion and all of their wasted blood, sweat and tears. He also has a playful fascination with werewolves, however, their smell is so horrid to him that he has a hard time socializing with them for long.

History:

The Duponts were a well known family. They had their mansion, their money, and their name and all of that amounted to the terrible luxury in which Alex was raised. Knowing absolutely nothing of the world, he wasn't prepared for his 16th birthday when his party was raided by a rouge band of vampires seeking to wipe his family and their power out, as well as seize all of their money. Alex was kidnapped and kept alive. He was used as a renewable food source and subjugated under the group's leader, Andien. It was the eve of his 20th birthday when Andien's crew nearly murdered Alex in a frenzy and, though he refused to call it love, Andien opted to sire him rather than letting him die. Alex felt indebted, despite the crimes the vampire had committed against his family; for keeping him alive, for teaching him English, for showing him how to survive in the world. Over time, their bond grew, Alex was inducted into their group, and the human aspects of his life were brainwashed out of him. How wonderful it was to live forever, how beautiful was the moonlight, how perfect was his skin? He preferred vampirism, reveled in it, even.

After nearly 20 years of camaraderie with his parent's murderers, he decided to use his newfound gift of endless life to travel the world, learn an instrument or two, study, read all of the most important books. All of the things humans are wont to do and never given the time. Andien was hesitant to let Alex leave, after all, he owed him his life. He went so far as to lock him up for safekeeping. Alex, outraged that he would dare try to keep him, after everything he and his brothers had put him through, rebelled. Alex had been locked in a room in the basement of their small manor for three hours before he discovered his gift. It took all night to perfect it, but soon he had teleported through the crack under the door and into the hall. All it took to bring a down his captors was a single match and a library he had read two times over. He lamented for the books, but not for the ravenous band of jackals. He took what remained of his wealth and stored it away, keeping a bit for himself to help with traveling. With 40 pounds, a violin, and the clothes on his back, he fled France.

Not to say that there was any peace between France and the rest of Europe at the time, but the start up of the Nine Years War made it difficult to stay in France. Instead, he traveled to Scotland, Ireland, and Germany, but wherever he went, it seemed the war and its battles would follow. Fed up with running from battles, he boarded a ship to America and stayed there for almost 80 years. He settled down in Louisiana and took a humble, quiet life, where he could read, write, and study music in peace. It was here that he learned to play the piano and took up a job at night playing for theaters, parties and bars. It was here that he encountered his first werewolves, a rowdy bunch of lads that frequented one of the bars that he commonly performed at. He could smell the uncanny scent on them that set them apart from humans and with a little silent tracking, he discovered their secrets. He wasn't bred on racism, so he found them fascinating and even befriended a few of them before their inevitable deaths. America was interesting, but after what would have normally been a lifetime, he was exhausted with the talk of slave ownership and expanding the colonies-- then the Revolutionary War started up and he just about tore his eyes out over humanities inability to agree to disagree. France seemed to also be at war, so... wanting to escape conflict, he moved to Italy.

For almost fifty years he worked with a potter, trying to ignore talk of the hatred of his home country, pretending to be from England. It was a simple, quiet life with just enough to keep him entertained with still enough free time to visit the opera, attend masquerades (his favorite), and of course: read and study music. The potter grew old, forever curious about Alex's ability to look young and beautiful forever, and eventually passed away. He asked Alex to keep the shop alive, but he couldn't. How sad it would have been to waste eternal life on a pottery shop. He abandoned the man and his dreams in the tiny seaside shop and decided to move somewhere he had always wanted to visit: England.

Despite his home country's disagreements with England, Alex had always wanted to see it for himself. Once again, he settled in a small town, seeking a quiet life... but whispers of a city rumored to be overrun with vampires and werewolves caught his attention and he sought out the fabled 'Ville Du Mort". It wasn't long before he found Nocturne Manor and made himself at home, allying with the vampires and reverting to a life he had left more than 100 years ago. He was quite taken with Natalie when he met her, and respected her grace and charm immediately. The idea of having somewhere to stay and belong, as well as the safety in numbers and the promise of elaborate parties caught his interest. Fixating himself in the house as the Head of Financial Affairs, he's lived and worked under the Nocturne name, ever loyal to the Lady. He still occasionally visits France and his home and will often leave on short vacations, but he considers the manner home and Lady Natalie his sovereign.
