Solace

Personality: Don't let Solace's welcoming persona and constant joking fool you- Solace takes things very, very seriously, and always makes sure his debts are paid. Infamous for his ever-changing necklace of other kia's feathers, he asks for a feather in exchange for any favor he does for anyone else, and only returns said feather once the debt is paid. To have a feather on Solace's necklace is dangerous in the town of Sunbeam and almost instantly puts a target on your back, and even if Solace continues to seem friendly, his lower townsfolk will not. A lot of Solace's operations go on behind-the-scenes and in-the-shadows, and the guy seems like a perfectly upstanding citizen if you don't know that he's behind a major criminal organization. Overall, though, whether he's hosting a charity drive for puppies or organizing the kidnapping of some innocent shmuck, he's incredibly determined about what he's doing and never lets a project go to waste.

History: For generations, the town of Sunbeam, Arizona has quietly existed in the desert, appearing as little more than a rest stop for those traveling to more interesting destinations. However, the lazy little town serves as a convincing facade for what is actually an elaborate base for all kinds of criminal activity. Children in the town are born and raised under conspiracy-like beliefs stating that the end of the world will happen soon unless Sunbeam finds the device that will stop it from doing so, and because of this most residents will stop at nothing to get to this mysterious macguffin. Almost every child of the town ends up employed by them in adult life, and Sunbeam has little regard for the law in acquiring the machine that they believe will save the world.

The position of Mayor in a town such as Sunbeam is one that lasts for life, and of course given the town's nature it's not an easy job. Solace was randomly drawn by the town's council out of a group of well-behaved kids to get the position at age twelve, and for the next six years he was trained for the job until he was old enough to take over the ailing previous mayor. For about ten years now he's governed the town, and is much more proactive and ruthless than the previous leader with much more attention given to Sunbeam's darker underbelly. Opinions on Solace range in Sunbeam, but it's undeniable that something interesting's always happening with him in command.

Fun Fact: Despite being in his late twenties and perfectly able-bodied, Solace loves nothing more than to relax in a rocking chair. One sits at his office in the town hall and they have subsequently become somewhat of a trend in the city, with a diner completely full of the things.
