Sown and grown from a pumpkin seed in Nuke's old garden, but when it became ripe enough just before harvesting it was brought to life by Guasti, haunting it with some mischievous spirit from the underworld as a prank. Nuke first saw him as a cute son-like being, but quickly grew tired of him as Pumpking immediately became rebellious, not wanting anyone to baby him and having a desire to demand and control over others. His short height left him not very intimidating and unsuccessful with his goals.
From a distance Guasti appeared amused, thinking that his prank had worked on annoying the tv, however it didn't take long for Pumpking to find and try bossing him around as well... regretting the annoyance he has created and cannot undo as the spirit was already bound to the gourd.
Pumpking's behavior often leaves him avoided and ignored, resulting him feeling lonely sometimes especially during gatherings with groups of people. He most likely stole his king cape and toy accessories from some kid.
