This character seems overpowered because she is, we've reached level 20 in this campaign

Jiao has a strong sense of loyalty and would follow her friends through fire. She is a force to be reckoned with in battle and not one to back off even when odds seem against her. She is often the one to get ahead and take the brunt of the force. Rightfully so as she is the one in her adventuring party who can best take it. Growing up in a fighting pit made her somewhat odd in a social and moral sense. She is very neutral when it comes to life and death and to her death is the right form of punishment for loads of things. She is not afraid to deal that punishment either.

There is also a more insecure side of her, having grown up quite isolated she does not have a great deal of wisdom. Through her travels she has learned a lot but she often still resorts to consulting her friends when faced with difficult decisions. Once her mind is made up she is not one to beat around the bush however and will often get straight to work. She spends her free time training, taking care of her equipment and sometimes helping out with building on the estate (a piece of land rewarded to Jiao's adventuring party).

Her story

Jiao grew up in an arena, a fighting pit where she trained and fought from a young age. She got better, survived for longer than anyone had expected. Her duel wielding skills with greataxes was unmatched on the day she entered the great melee to fight for her freedom. Exiting the arena at the age of 14 she was the youngest pitfighter to ever win their freedom.

Throughout her journey she has survived quite a few things, including having been aged by a sphinx and dying at the hand of a powerfull sorcerer. A goddess had at that point chosen Jiao to represent her and Jiao agreed to be loyal to her after her death. The goddess, Wedea, brought Jiao back to the world of the living in a different body. She was still Jiao but touched by a goddess she was now a godlike; a human in all but appearance as her skin now has a purple hue and marked with glowing signs. Her black hair crackles with lightning, her pupils glow within a halo of now light blue irisses.

A more detailed version of the story of her youth can be found in her literature
