Born from the subconcious of a young Hecktor Freidrich, John was created as a figmented imaginary friend. He was a father figure and friend to Hecktor and often consoled the young kid. As Hecktor grew, his memories of creating John faded and to this day, Hecktor is unaware that John is made up in his mind.

Following the dark moments of leaving Rickardo's crew and Hecktor's weak mental state, Q returned as Johnathan Quincy, befriending young adult Hecktor and showing him some psychic moves during his time at the Sigmund Remedial School. Following Hecktor's graduation and Johnathan's absolute freedom with his creator not remembering that he is not real, Johnathan began to get a life of his own.

That is, until he started to fade. With Hecktor no longer needing a Johnathan in his life, John started to lose control of himself. This was only increased when Hecktor continued to push his feelings (albeit subconsciously) deep down inside and projecting them onto John. Fearing erasure and losing himself completely to Hecktor's emotions, John was forced to evolve into the spontaneous criminal mastermind known as ? or Q.

Either on his side or against him, Hecktor would need Q one way or another.
