These are inspired by the science of alchemy, and loosely based off a story book recipe for crafting a homunculus.

If you're having trouble reading this, have a look at the DA journal, but note I do not take points anymore.

Without further ado, have a look through!

Alchemarians.

Alchemy Avarian Ponies

Alchemarians are distinctly recognized by their caged busts, and the unique process of their creation.

They are intelligent creatures, made with the power of alchemy.

This is a guide for your understanding of these elegant creatures.

Crafting.

  1. 1. Obtain the egg of a bird. The type of egg will determine avarian traits. Pierce the egg with a needle.
  2. 2. Remove half of the eggs contents, replace with a lock of pony mane.
  3. 3. Egg must be fed sugar and milk daily. Keep egg warm to the touch, and out of direct sunlight.

The prick of the needle introduces metal into the eggs creation, thus the metal cage, hooves and other traits.

Male and Female traits.

Female Alchemarians are the size of a normal pony at full size, though smaller than males.

They have long lashes with little metal droplets at the end, and a minimum of two tail feathers.

Males are a whole head taller than the average pony, and have a minimum of three tail feathers.

Foals and Breeding.

If your crafting was successful, here is what you need to know about your new foal!

(See drawing above)

Example of common male foal^

Downy fluff on chest. This will eventually fall away to reveal cage and item inside when adolescent.

Pregnancy in Alchemarians is far easier than crafting one, as the parents will tend to the egg themselves.

An egg will replace the item in a females cage, and 11 months after it is formed, it will hatch.

The foal of an Alchemarian is sterile, and it will not be able to breed.

Foals of Alchemarians do not have pupils

Philosophers Stones.

Crafting an Alchemarian will not be successful without a Philosophers stone.

These have been fashioned into amulets.

Keep your stone close when you craft your Alchemarian.

Philosophers stones can be purchased for a price.

I hope you can read the writing! I put a lot of effort into the calligraphy. I will type out all that the guides say if enough people ask ^w^

I wanted the guide to be a piece of art as well, resembling the notes of someone studying science and all things alchemical.

More information:

Appearance

The Alchemarian species (Alchae, plural) stand out as unique for their cage bust, and feather tails.

The metals that are found on their bodies are a result from the prick of a needle during their creation. Thus, they have metal cages, metal coated hooves, metal droplets on lashes if female, metal horns if unicorns, and metal wire on their wings if pegasus or dragon.

Their tail feathers are a direct result from the type of birds egg they were hatched from. If they grew in a sparrows egg, they will have a sparrows feather tail. If a chicken egg, then a hen or roosters tail.

Male Alchae have more tail feathers to attract and impress females.

Communication and Social Interaction

Alchemarians are very intelligent ponies. They can learn and understand languages, and are happy to follow commands. When it comes to communication, they are ponies of very few words. Speaking is something that doesn't come natural to Alchae, and thus will avoid it when appropriate.

Alchae are not overly friendly, but are polite when interacting with one another. They get along very well with their own kind, as only a fellow Alchemarian can truly understand what it's like to have been artificially created.

They accept requests for friendship, and in their own quiet way will do their best to respond with affection.

Behavior and Interests

Their interests and passions are often related to the object within their cage bust. If they have a watch or a clock, they are good time keepers or watchmakers. If it is a plant or a flower, they enjoy gardening or aromatherapy.

Whatever their passion is, they are extremely hard workers. They spend as much time as they can on their passion or hobby.

They are natural inventors and tinkerers, and are always crafting new and interesting devices. Often they will craft a device to help aid them work, such as a mechanical leg or a steam powered assistant.

They also enjoy crafting items such as chains and wire wrapped jewelry as a fashion accessory.

Diet

The Alchemarian diet doesn't differ much from the average pony diet; fresh grass, fruits and vegetables. Due to the diet they were fed as egg, all Alchemarians have a sweet tooth, and will never say no to cakes or sweets!

Breeding and Romance

(As a lot of foal information is covered in the guide this will be about the social side of it.)

Alchemarian relationships are simple and sweet. Couples show affection by giving gifts, kind actions like hugs and pats, and the occasional few words of love. They search for the right pony, and when they have found the perfect partner, will mate for life.
Alchae can breed with ponies of normal species, but their offspring will not have Alchemarian traits (No cage bust, tail feathers, or metal coatings).

Foals born to Alchemarian parents have no pupils, and cannot breed. This is because they are too far from the path of nature to continue the line of genetics.

INFORMATION ON FOALS

Foals born to Alchemarian parents are able to have up to three items in their cage. This is because they inherit two passions from their parents, and one of their own. It is up to the foal to decide what it's passions are (can be completely unrelated to their parents) and how many they have.

Foals born to Alchemarian parents also have two types of tail feathers, inheriting both from their parents.

These foals of Alchemarians are a rarity tier/subspecies of their own, and disregard the original traits, as they inherit traits from their parents.
