Design Notes

5'3, has two outward facing horns, and two black ahoge that resemble a bug's antennae. He's partly based on a goliath beetle.

He likes to wear plain colored clothes overall, but to stack up on accessories like chains and earrings.

He often wears a warding scowl on his face, disliking many humans even after meeting a select few that are kind. He's the opposite of Nacrea in approachability.

Greatest Strength

Blithe is a skilled hand to hand combatant from experience, sometimes having fought entire armies at once according to rumors. He claims to despise violence now, yet makes it clear that any threats to his peaceful life would have to be dealt with by his hands. He can also stir feelings of human uncertainty and doubt and gather power from the turmoil it brings.

Greatest Weakness

He hates working in a team as he's always worked alone. Now that he cares for others, he is certain his comrades would be liabilities that he'd need to account for and hold him back, Nacrea especially if she's in danger.

Cooking

If a former warrior is good with a sword, then they must be just as good with a knife according to Nacrea. He learned to cook even if he doesn't need to eat, just because he likes spending suppertime with Nacrea.

Fishing

He's absolutely repulsed by seafood and aquatic animals, but his reflexes make him strangely good at plucking fish out of a nearby river. Nacrea is the only one who dares to gut and eat fish in the household. The eyes unnerve Blithe.

Combat

He can use a wide range of weapons whether close range or far like a bow or a rifle. When in battle he could see a weapon used for the first time and use it just as well if he gets his hands on it. That's all in the past.

Positive Traits

He is very protective when he decides on something to fight for now, rather than fighting without a purpose. Since meeting Nacrea he wants to protect the peace he's got now living with her.

Neutral Traits

Compared to the other Miseries, he's one of the "normal" level headed ones and lives alongside humans. He's aware he's killed many in the past that he can't undo, so there's a guilt in his new lifestyle with nice humans, and while it's considerate, he'll tend to reprimand himself for indulging in good things.

Negative Traits

He has a temper and not enough experience in the world to know every social cue, so sometimes he's considered too blunt. He doesn't like to beat around the bush and was always just as honest with the other Miseries if they got on his nerves often. If he's easily ticked off, it makes sense after years of hanging out with the most insufferable group of Gods.

Others' Perception

Loved Ones

Nacrea at least treats him like any other person, and thinks he isn't really a threat(compared to her skills). He's not used to such kindness and normalcy.

Strangers

The other Miseries consider him one of the more reserved ones but heard of his deeds over the years, considering him as rowdy as them still. Humans fear him.

Enemies

He's sure to have many enemies over the years or those who tell exaggerated tales of his fights. It doesn't phase him.

In the original Pandora's box, Blithe grew up alongside the other Miseries, a handful of evil Gods that reveled in what scared humans. Blithe was the Misery of Uncertainty, just before a humans feels despair, ranging from the fear of whats to come or hindering what's happening. Unsealed by the original Pandora, running rampant, Blithe was able to grow his power tremendously where the uncertainty of war was present.

At first, he stayed close to combatants and watched them rush into a battlefield. Despite hoards looking courageous, they were flightless birds uncertain if they would survive as a group or individually. To Blithe, humans had better things to worry about than war if both sides ultimately hated the idea. Seeing humans pass at the orders of their leaders, needlessly, Blithe wasn't sitting well with the sights of agony that once normal humans were facing. If anything, their deaths did strenghen him, but he was certain he could get his power from other methods than one so damaging.

Expecting to spend eternity sealed away, not close enough with his comrades to expect them to save him, Blithe settled on resting away. He was certain of that, and yet, the current Pandora in charge of watching him unsealed him. Nacrea was a person who he couldn't easily read, unconditionally kind yet firm with him, someone that made him feel uncertainty about the peaceful days to come.

He felt he'd committed the same crime as some humans in taking lives before, acts that couldn't be undone, but Nacrea assured he'd fought the worst kind of person and that alone could give peace to many more. In the life he started with Nacrea like a dear friend, Blithe learned about the calm lives many humans kept, the peace that was supposedly what was being preserved through war when it was threatened. If a great threat did come by, such as his fellow Gods causing trouble where he was, Blithe accepted that he'd fight for the peace to continue even if that means becoming sealed again in the future.

In the end, a threat did arise exactly how Blithe imagined it; two Miseries named Merikh and Pagule, respectively handling human death and plague, were working together for the downfall of humanity itself. Blithe had grown used to seeing destruction and the aftermath where innocents struggled to rebuild everything, and he wouldn't want that to happen now that he's grown attached to certain humans like Nacrea. Yet, it was that duo that managed to snatch him away in the thurible he resided in when Nacrea's guard was down. Enlisted in the villain's group, he still put up a fight.

Shocked to hear what Merikh and Pagule had in mind, to collect the other miseries and lead an army of evil Gods to make humans suffer enough to lose faith in their gods, Blithe knew he wouldn't easily go along with it. As long as he was under their supervision he couldn't flee, but was at least able to share the same sentiments as Fericho who was somewhere she didn't want to be. The others seemed to go along with the duo because they had no where else to be, sealed previously and wanting to avoid that fate, to take frustrations out on humans. Yet Blithe had a place of belonging, he was certain of that, certain he'd change sides as soon as the opportunity arose.

∙ His weapon of choice is a trident, although he can use anything after watching someone use it just once.

∙ His former design was an alien prince in a cast of aliens lol. Nacrea was a princess that hated him as well, so in this life, they get along very well platonically.

∙ The name Blithe Legato is just an anagram of Goliath beetle, a beetle that his design is partially based on by color. His eyes are meant to look like it as well.

∙ He could be considered a tsundere, but he's level headed enough that if he does spout something rude he'll immediately apologize or make up for it than let it linger. He's comparable to Chika Kudo.

When a battle took too long, when the leaders sat by idly without any compassion, Blithe felt compelled to join in. He knew nothing of any individual humans, but somehow he figured the battles were wrong. Watching others use a plethora of weapons over genertations; swords, cannons, rifles, Blithe mimicked their usage and pointed the same weapons towards the "peace-seeking" leaders. Of course, those who'd see their actions coined them a demon for years, "Death" itself on the battlefield. Earning a reputation that humans prepared for, he was one day caught by a group of humans skilled in the supernatural, humans named Pandoras who could seal him away in a thurible.
