Claire was born into a family with a long history of Pokémon battling. Her grandmother was a former Champion, and the family still holds onto that reputation with pride. From a young age, Claire was expected to live up to the legacy and she had the talent for it. She was quick-thinking, precise, and naturally sharp.

On her fifth birthday, her grandmother gave her a rare shiny Eevee. He came from a prized bloodline, carefully bred and trained to become her perfect partner. However, the Eevee didn’t perform the way her family expected in battle. He hesitated, misread signals, and didn’t respond well to training. It wasn’t long before her relatives started suggesting she replace him with a more “reliable” Pokémon. Claire refused. While the Eevee wasn’t perfect, he was hers and her first real friend. She’d rather fight alongside him than win with something she didn’t believe in.

She met Soleil during a family business trip to Kalos not long after. Soleil was chaotic, bright, and easy to laugh, everything Claire had never been allowed to be. Claire was bewildered by Soleil’s unruly Espurr and how Soleil talked about him like he was a treasure, not a problem. They became fast friends and eventually became travel partners. Soleil never cared about Claire’s name or legacy, and that alone made her feel like she could finally breathe.

Claire would never admit it out loud, but Soleil is one of the only people who makes her feel at ease. Being around her feels like getting a break from everything Claire is supposed to be. She follows Soleil on her scattered adventures not because she has nowhere better to be, but because it’s the one place she doesn’t feel trapped.
