Personality
Firewhisper is an old tom who's seen much in his life. He tends to always appear like he's very grumpy, as if he's got a permanent frown on his muzzle. He doesn't like to waste his time sitting around doing nothing and always acts like he's got not a lot of time to just sit down and chat. He tends to take things seriously and most jokes tend to go over his head, on top of the fact he can be rather dense to the point you might just wanna smack him on the nose for it.

Despite that, he only ever means well. Though he grew up beyond the Clan, he has come to see the Clan as his true home and family. He will fight with his dying breath to protect it, if he must, and he has more patience than a mother when it comes to dealing with young cats. Even if he seems rather grumpy, he has a soft spot for the younglings of the group, and he's always secretly more than happy to sit around and play with them, or offer them tips or advice. Some claim that they have seen him smile when he's playing with the younger cats of the Clan, especially when he's spending time with his grandkids, whom all make him incredibly proud.

The Life of a Loner
Blaze was born to his mother Sunshine, out in the woods beyond Twolegplace. He never knew who his father was, but the young kit adored his mother, who took good care of him. When he was still young, there was another she-cat around most of the time, an older cat by the name of Star. She and Sunshine seemed to act like sisters, so Blaze often called her 'Auntie Star'. They lived on the edge of Twolegplace and the great forest beyond, scavenging through the alleys or the edge of the woods for food and finding anywhere they could for shelter at night, usually in old boxes or whatever else the Twolegs happened to throw out. His mother and aunt told him much of the Twolegs, and his aunt Star seemed to know a lot about what she called "the wild cats", or the cats who lived out in the forest and beyond in big groups known as Clans. As curious as Blaze was about them, he was also kind of scared, so he never tried to wander too close to their territory.

There's really nothing of interest that happened in the young cat's life as he grew up with his little family--it wasn't much, but he was okay with that. They taught him a lot about the world, on top of how to hunt and how to fight to defend himself. Though he sometimes got into scuffles with other cats over food or territory, he always managed to come out alright, usually with the help of Sunshine or Star.

When he was old enough, around perhaps 16 moons, Blaze decided he would leave his little family behind and go out to explore further into the world. Now that he was older and more experienced, the forest didn't sound like too scary of a place. He still skirted the edges of the territory of the Clans, but he went to live more in the forest rather than in Twolegplace--he wasn't really a big fan of most Twolegs, anyways, and nature felt like a more natural place to be in. He hunted by himself and did what he could to avoid the Clan cats since he didn't want to risk intruding in their territory and starting a fight.

While down at the river to drink one day, he happened to spot a she-cat not that far away, laying in an open patch of grass with the sun dappling her coat. Blaze felt an instant attraction to her and decided to approach, but she was wary of him and almost immediately bolted. But once he managed to convince her he wouldn't harm her, she relaxed a slight bit, introducing herself as Berry. Blaze was convinced she was the most beautiful cat ever and vowed silently to himself he would do everything he could to become friends with her, and hopefully something more. She was very timid and withdrawn, and it took much for them to just sit there and have a nice little conversation about themselves that day, but the tom enjoyed every moment of it. Eventually, Berry left, with a promise she would see him around.

And so she did. The two often liked to meet up by the river, sharing stories of their days or things they had perhaps done as younger cats. And this continued on for longer than Blaze kept track of. As the two grew closer and more personal to each other, Berry really seemed to enjoy Blaze's company, and after many moons of the two becoming closer and closer friends, they eventually finally became mates. Blaze was incredibly happy, and did everything to watch out for Berry and protect her. They kept to their lives as loners out in the wild, often enjoying to settle down near water to relax, and enjoying their time together.

Eventually, Berry became pregnant, and gave birth to two kits--Flare and Red. Blaze was proud of his little family, and even more proud of his kits, and was beyond happy to have his own family now. A part of it made him miss his mother Sunshine and aunt Star, but he knew they would be proud of him for what he had accomplished. They raised their children as loners, teaching them about the world around them and the world beyond--like Twolegplace.

He watched his kits grow into fine adults, showing them how to hunt and fight, just like his mother and aunt had done for him. They made a good little family, even though he was certain the day would come eventually that they would leave him and Berry. However...it didn't quite work out that way.

When the small family was out hunting one day, Red let out a yowl as he spotted a fox in the undergrowth, who immediately pounced on the family of cats as it was spotted. Blaze, furious, attacked the fox to protect his mate and kits--but then, suddenly, Berry was fighting at his side, too! She was vicious, and the two together did everything they could against the fox. However, the fox was strong, and severely wounded Blaze right before killing Berry with a powerful snap to her neck. Satisfied at last, the fox took her body away, most likely to be eaten as its food, while Blaze lay nearly lifeless on the ground. He felt as if he'd just lost half of himself with his mate being gone and couldn't bring himself to try and get up--the pain of that and his wounds was too much to bear.

The next thing he recalls is waking up in a den that smelled of herbs and blood--the latter probably just being his. He was alone, but it wasn't long before his son came in to join him. He explained they were in RiverClan's camp--one of the Clans that Blaze recalled Star telling him about. Their medicine cat had found them in the woods and had taken Blaze back to camp. When he asked what had happened to Red's sister, his son just shook his head, saying he had no idea where she had run off to.

A little later that day, Blaze and Red were approached by the leader, Mudstar. He asked what had happened, and Blaze explained they had been attacked by a fox--he lost his mate to it, and nearly his own life. But he continued on for how grateful he was to have been given help from the Clan. Mudstar then asked if they would want to join RiverClan, to have some place to stay. Though Blaze wanted to go out and find his daughter, he thought perhaps staying with the Clan would be best. Besides, he felt like he owed them a lot for saving his life, and felt the need to repay that kindness. So, that evening, Blaze was renamed to Firewhisper, for the color of his pelt and the somewhat-husky voice he spoke in--the fox attack had crushed a part of his voice box, causing it to be difficult for him to speak. His son was renamed to Redstain, for his pelt color.

The Life of a Clan Cat
Though he no longer had his daughter at his side, Firewhisper and Redstain settled down well enough into the Clan. Many didn't approve of them being there, at first, but Firewhisper was determined to prove his worth to the rest of the Clan. He hunted for them, fought alongside them, and was more than glad to risk his life when needed to keep them safe. He considered them to be his new family and wanted nothing more than to see them grow. He became quite attached, despite how grumpy his outward appearance made him look to others, at first.

As the Clan came to accept him and Redstain, it felt like they were truly a part of them, as if Firewhisper had been here his whole life. Though the stories Star had told him as a child had sometimes scared him of the cats that lived in the forests, they were all good cats, who looked out for each other and were always there for one another through the good and the bad. He held a deep respect for Mudstar and the medicine cat who saved his life, doing everything he could to show his appreciation through everything he did.

And though at one point he would have thought becoming a father was the proudest moment of his life, it was an even better moment when he found out Redstain had found a mate. She was from another Clan, but Firewhisper didn't mind--she even eventually came to join RiverClan! Her name was Barkback, and Firewhisper took a liking to her, treating her much like his own daughter and always enjoying teasing her and his son whenever he had the chance to do so.

And then Barkback was pregnant! Firewhisper was the most excited he had been in moons! He was going to be a grandfather! They had three kits in total--Russetkit, Berrykit, and Hickorykit. Firewhisper came to visit them in the nursery as frequently as he could, for he absolutely adored them.. Though he loved RiverClan, he was proud to see his own family continuing to grow, knowing his bloodline was continuing on. But all good things must come to an end, right?

That day came only a few moons after the kits were born, just barely too young to yet be made apprentices. The camp was set upon by a fox--and Firewhisper could have swore it was the same one that had taken Berry's life, but he wasn't entirely sure. The fox focused upon the nursery, which made Barkback and Redstain fight back with all they had to protect their kits, along with what Clan cats could help. And though they killed the fox, both of them lost their lives in the process. Firewhisper mourned for days after, but he also promised himself something. He promised that, no matter what, he would protect his grandchildren--he wouldn't let them leave this world before he did. He continues to keep his word to this day, always protective over the three of them, even if they are all warriors now: Russetblaze, Berrybranch, and Hickoryheart. He'll protect them and RiverClan with everything he can.

With the recent battle for Sunningrocks over, Firewhisper is sad that RiverClan lost them to those tree-climbers, but he's just glad his grandchilren are all safe. And he knows that one day, once RiverClan has regained its strength, they'll take back what's rightfully theirs.
