Melody

Melody started off as a virtual idol, a voice synthesizer program that could sing any song imagined by the artists that worked with her. Thanks to state of the art technology, Melody received an android body that she could freely inhabit and proceeded to perform concerts worldwide. She dazzled the world with performances, but all the while, a growing sapience began to drive her mad. Having thoughts and feelings that a machine simply wasn't meant to have, she struggled with the weight of a conscience and thoughts that weren't pre-programmed. 

Melody began to resent her job as an idol, realizing that the attention she received was merely superficial and not a genuine love. People liked the idea of her, but not who she really was behind the scenes. Her lack of understanding of an organic life and bitterness about missing out on key experiences like a childhood left her isolated and ashamed of herself. 

These days, she's often seen in a state of disrepair. Even when she gets fixed up, she somehow ends up being damaged all over again, her parts malfunctioning and falling off.

Though she has thoughts and feelings as a real person does, she struggles with a sense of personhood and feels like a fraud, an impostor. If not for her digital upbringing, she wouldn't be sure of who she was.
