Violetta Trausti

TW/CW: Marital abuse, alcohol comsumption, mentions of child abuse.

Violetta is a very sweet woman, which doesn't mean she let's herself get dragged by anyone. She will fight back whenever she feels like she's being made a fool of.

She was brought up in the countryside, in the middle of a big, messy family. Calling it disfunctional would be a understatement. Her icelandic mother, Adda Trausti, coarsened by her harsh upbringing in times when food was scarce and there was no such thing as children being treated carefully, treated her children no differently than her own mother would once do it to her: carelessly and roughly. Other than that, Adda was much like a simple, ordinary country housewife, tending to her children as would a mother do (she had been no monster, that's an important thing to reassure. Violetta loved her regardless of that rough treatment and her mother loved her too, in her own way. She rarely ever beat Violetta or her brothers.).

Her father, Winston Carter, was a frustrated bostonian poet, who decided to travel throught Europe in hopes of finding inspiration to his writings at the cold european landscapes. He got involved with Violetta's mother and they didn't take long to marry and settle into a cozy conjugal life. The only reason for it not being completely blissful was the fact that Winston wanted to live in the city, where living conditions were better, but Adda had been adamant on them residing in the countryside, at the same house her family had lived for generations, as keeping that house and property under the Trausti name was one of her fathers dying wishes. He eventually gave in, under the conditions that he could work at the city; even though that solution was not in any way practical or ideal, it served to make them both satisfied nonetheless. Adda Trausti could keep tending to her beloved property as she'd always wanted, and Winston... Well, Winston could go into the city, spend a week of hard-earned money on booze or beautiful women willing to have a fling with the "charming, foreign poet", and come back to his lovely, unsuspecting wife arms during the night.

Violetta was the firstborn of the still functional marriage between Adda and Winston, and, during her early childhood, grew in a happy home. That was until, when she was only 5 years old, Winston didn't come back home to his daughter and wife, eventually having tired of keeping himself on the same place, leaving only a note to serve as solace: "I have come to find out that this life, one of little freedom, is for no man like me. I seek of fanfare and bountiful days. And for my soul craves of different days, I have to go. Take care of young Violetta." Her mother was anything between pure angerness and deep sorrow and desperation. How was she supposed to care for a small child, alone and with no money?

That's why she eventually remarried with a man called Gilbert Hudson, when Violetta was 6, glad that some other man was kind enough to accept a single mother and her child, not from his blood into his family. They continued on living at the same property. Violetta's stepfather was a drunk mess, and it didnt take long at all for him to take his anger out on his wife. He had three other children with her (all boys), regardless, and Adda wouldn't let him ever beat them, and that got her more violence.

The young Violetta then had to serve as a maternal role for her younger siblings, for that her mother had enough to do and to bear already, too occupied by chores and managing a problematical marriage, having almost no time to take care of her children and even less time for herself. Violetta had to learn how to be her brothers own pillar from a very young age. [WIP]
