Hitomi

Hitomi grew up in a small town, surrounded by a large and tight-knit family. Everything about her childhood was perfect and picturesque. Her best friend was her little sister Rui, who admired her and always wanted to be just like her. But as Hitomi grew up, she got more rebellious and reckless, and as any admiring sister would do, Rui followed along. She started going to parties and drinking, because her older sister was doing it too. Hitomi didn't really try to discourage her sister, she actually liked going to parties with her. They were best friends, after all, and best friends do everything together.

But disaster struck the one time Hitomi didn't watch over her sister: little high school-aged Rui died from a drug overdose at a party Hitomi wasn't at. Her family took out their grief and anger on Hitomi, thinking that her recklessness influenced Rui into going out to a party ad taking drugs. Shocked, brokenhearted, and blaming herself because of everything her family said about her, she ran away as far as she could get to fend for herself on her own because she couldn't face her family anymore. The only support she got in the city was from her two new friends, Mio and Kaname. She started drinking a lot without the support of her family, but eventually had to stop after she tried to jump out her apartment window in a drunken self-destructive episode of guilt and regret. She now stays far away from any addictive substances, especially after how her sister died. She works as an informant jumping between the secret groups operating in the shadows around her, using her mind-reading abilities to get information that not even the best detectives could uncover.
