Back when Alex was about the age of 4, he had an infection in his left hand and left foot. The doctors had tried their best to treat his infections but they never found a cure for it. Since his infection was lethal if it spread any further than it already had, the doctors decided to amputate, both arm and leg.
From that point on Alex was missing half of two his limbs. Throught that his life has always been a bit of a challenge. His parents did buy him crutches but he usually refused to use them, since he thought it made him look weak.

Soon he attends School, where he is quickly surrounded by people finding interest in his lost limbs. He was sure that he had quickly found friends but as soon as he told his story on how he lost them, people would loose interest or even assume his infection may be contagious. He spent most of his time alone, until his family decided to move and he had to change school.

Martin was a year older than Alex and therefore was one class above him. Martin had watched Alex struggle for a while before he decided that he wanted to interact with Alex. Martin walked up to him on the school playground and asked why he was always alone and if he needed help.
Alex and Martin quickly became friends after that conversation. Since Martin was smart enough to know his infection couldn't affect him he stayed close to Alex. To always be by Alex' side Martin intentionally failed his class so he could be in the same as Alex.
From that day forward Martin always carried Alex around on his shoulders when he could. Alex really enjoys that.

Both of them are now in high-school and are roommates.

Martin was raised by very lovely parents who tought him, to always be a kind and caring person. That's why he helped out Alex in school. He always had a pretty strong bond with him as he cared for Alex, because Alex didn't care for himself.

He was taught hair styling by his mother and cooking by his father. So as soon as he was good at it he started styling and cutting his and Alex' hair. He also always carried food for Alex, since he never carried food himself.
