Persephone was born and raised in Eden by her mother, Lady Grey, the Lady of the Underworld. She never met her father and considered him unimportant next to the power and influence of her mother. When she was weaned, she was sent to Toxin Raj. From there, Persephone attached herself to other foals of the land - Wolf, Void, and Cahethal. She also started to bond with the other cambion in the herd, a mare named Yvette. She spent most of her life quiet and observant, absorbing information for later use. She was disappointed to learn that her mother was no longer Lady of the Underworld. However, she did not let this discourage her.

When she turned two years old, an opportunity came for her in the form of revenge. After the assault on Sly by Zephyr, the Helkaer decided to move against the Dark Royals. Persephone became a part of the cambion army, assigned to infect as many of their herd members as possible with her disease. She did this task with pleasure. She loved being able to use her gift and hoped to be able to use it more in the future. She infected both Dominoe and Thomasin with her cambion disease.
