Description
The pilot who comes in with supplies for the town.

One day he brings a cargo load of people, and begs Nick to let them stay. If they cannot stay, he asks Nick to at least let his pregnant sister, Penelope, stay. Nick agrees to let the people stay in town. Dan is relieved, and tells Nick that after one more delivery, he'll settle down in town for good.

The next time he comes to town he is ill and sickly. He wishes Nick well, and runs to the wilderness to die from the elements. Nick is distraught, and searches for him when the weather permits. It is due to Nick's insistence of giving Dan a proper burial that the pandemic begins to manifest in town.
