Profile

Hydreliox is an adult lichthund who defected from Power Island in what is believed to be the early Spectrum Dynasty.

Hydreliox is identified by their blazing electric blue and crimson red coat and feather colors. Similarly, their eye color and plasma are dual red and blue, making them one of the few canonically heterochromic lichthunde who also has both colors of plasma. Each eyebeam shoots its respective color and the plasma fired from their mouth can appear both red or blue.

Hydreliox is a weapons supplier in the Jaripthon System. Like Indigo, Hydreliox believes that Power Island has fallen and that life has been snuffed out off the planet but lays low for fear of encountering survivors. They serve as an antagonist but are one of the most compelling cases for an antagonist to have a redemption arc in the Dogstar project.

Hydreliox owns a custom-built warpspeed ship named the Splitstar with a unique feature of light-based illusionary defense. The Splitstar creates holographic "copies" of itself that on imaging systems, radar, and the naked eye are indistinguishable from the real thing. This feature protected the Splitstar from "Hullpiercer" lichthunde and their use in combat (lightspeed-ramming enemy vessels.)

It is obvious that Hydreliox never served in the Power Island military; an obligatory draft for all lichthund that meet size and health requirements, because their tail, and very long ears are intact. Hydreliox is particularly fond of their ears which can be used as an Achilles heel against them.

It's heavily implied that the mandatory practice of ear cropping was the reason Hydreliox defected in the first place.

Hydreliox is nowhere near as strong as the average trained military lichthund of their time, but as they are one of the few fully grown lichthunde surviving in the present day, they are still terrifyingly powerful when compared to other lifeforms and the Spot pups.

The native lifeforms of the Jaripthon system are shadow-based. Some of the only last surviving in the galaxy. Curious that a lichthund would so comfortably live among them as Hydreliox does, knowing how Power Islanders so often see shadow-based life. But Hydro gives the shadow goblins of Jaripthon 5 the undying loyalty that the lichthunde are known for despite their pedigree, and much more likely in spite of it.

Many of Hydreliox' achievements in the Jaripthon system were made to benefit the shadow goblins. Hydro does not just live among them, but as part of them. Their people and culture an apex of their own life and identity. This relationship is mutual, and the comradery the Jarithonians have with Hydro is beyond generational, as the lifespan of a lichthund greatly exceeds most of their own. Hydreliox has been a defender and cornerstone of their civilization for thousands of years.

Strengths:

Hydreliox is incredibly resourceful and has been around for a while. They are quite skilled at working alongside the shadow goblins of Jaripthon 5 in order to build complex spacecraft and weaponry. While construction of the machines are equal parts the work of shadow goblin scientists and craftsmen, it is worth noting that Hydro is quite proficient by themselves.

Hydreliox is not loyally tied to Power Island, which has both its strengths and drawbacks.

Hydro being an adult lichthund brings with it the physical and astronomical strengths of such an infamously powerful species. Even by sheer size Hydro surpasses many of their adversaries.

Hydreliox's adamancy about appearing as little as possible but keeping up a fearsome image has earned them quite the reputation. Feared and respected throughout the galaxy, it's considered a death sentence to mess with the Jaripthon system in any way.

Hydro has some powerful social ties due to the lucrative nature of the weapons trade.

Weaknesses:

Hydreliox has many irrational fears due to abuse in their past. This often causes them to not act out or take initiative due to perceived dangers.

Hydreliox is untrained in combat associated with their species. Despite size and power, this evens the odds somewhat if coming into contact with another who has received this training.

Like 97% of lichthunde, Hydreliox has generational nyctophobia socially inherited from the political climate of Power Island. While nowhere near as strong as those aligned with the kingdom, it is still something to take note. Hydro's remaining nyctophobia is predominantly motivated by the "feather rot scare" which was a pressing social issue and growing pandemic during their puppyhood on Power Island.

Very rare for lichthunde, Hydreliox also has heliophobia, developed due to their long years being an enemy of the crown. Hydro has spent hundreds of years learning to suppress their natural response instincts due both in part to this, and the ever present fear of accidentally harming the shadow goblins in their employ. Hydreliox is one of the few lichthunde who regularly casts a shadow due to their low resting bioluminescence. This fear is a hurdle Hydro often faces when designing weaponry devices and spacecraft, due to the use of cosmic light energy in their construction.

Due to the almost loss of their ears due to the mandatory Power Island military ear cropping, Hydro is regressively defensive of their ears, to the point of surrendering in combat to ensure they remain intact.

Hydro can be quite easily be manipulated via their fears and insecurities if they are observed by a particularly cunning or manipulative individual. For this reason, as well as the ever present fear of being found by Power Island or recognized as a lichthund, Hydro takes great precaution in hiding themselves. In business delegations they cover themselves in the customary robes used by the shadow goblins, and make no effort to let on that they may be in any way different from them. However sometimes, particularly sensitive individuals have seen through Hydro's precautions and acted upon their discovery for their own benefit.

Hydreliox as a puppy. Note: the absence of the light golden/silver (in Hydro's case silver) puppy down. The point at which a lichthund pup's feathers deepened to their final colors they were considered old enough to be drafted to begin military training. It was not long after this that Hydro escaped. How this happened and was accomplished is a closely guarded secret, not much is known save for the puppy that would grow up to become Hydreliox made a promise to never look back.
