I don't need four good legs to be a good leader.

exterior
Breed
tabby

Loststar is an orange and brown tabby with fluffy fur, almost Persian-like. She is by no means a full tabby or Persian, but a long hair mixed breed.
Fur Colour
orange with brown stripes

She has orange fur with much darker brown stripes along her face, back, and tail, ending in uneven stripes that don't reach the tip.
Body Shape
muscley and big

Loststar is a large muscley cat and with her semi-thick fur, she looks pretty large by comparison. Though the fur tapers down along her bad leg, exposing some of the crooks and kinks in it, she tries to simply ignore the weather when it's cold.
Eyes
hazel

Her eyes are green with a brown center, making her eyes rather odd and different from most cats. And while she may appear to be stern and cold, her eyes hold a look of kindness and love for her clan.
Scars/Disabilities
disfigured leg

Loststar was born with a crooked leg which set her back for a long time. She trained herself early on as a kit to make sure she became an apprentice on time. She also has a few scars hidden under her thick fur. She has a long scar on her right shoulder and a few small scars on her back.
innards

FAIR . PEACEFUL . HEAD-STRONG

Loststar has faced one too many persecutions in her life, but she has taken it and turned herself into a determined and peaceful cat. She knows the history of the clan she leads and wants to prove others wrong. She wants to bring peace, especially after the decline of the last leader, Badgerstar.

She wants to give every cat a fighting chance in life. She can and will defend someone's rights to be a warrior or a medicine cat or a leaf-reader if they believe that they can be one. She upholds the code with strong beliefs yet is merciful to those who test its power.

PRIVATE . FAMILIAL . AMBITIOUS

She's a quiet and familiar molly that prefers to keep her private life out of the spotlight and sight of her clanmates. She's close with her sister Birdbelly and spends many hours in the nursery speaking with her about private matters not many hear or get to know about.

She was an ambitious kit and apprentice, and that drive has not left her. She wants to prove that her clan is capable of being peaceful, driven, but not overconfident and aggressive like many believe.

BLUNT . DISOBEDIANT . IMPULSIVE

Loststar can't help but be blunt with every one. She speaks her mind and her intentions blatantly for everyone to hear, and this can often get her in trouble. She won't listen to anyone, not because she out-ranks people, but because she can't help but follow the beat of her own drum.

She listens to her own heart and no one can stop her at any point. But she's also impulsive, willing to make split-second decisions that she won't change or back down from at any point. She is willing to challenge the norm, as she believes her whole life is "not normal".

the lore

The Beginning. . .

Hazelkit was born to their parent Ryewhisker, the long-time medicine cat, and their father Bearshade. She had two siblings, a sister named Birdkit and a brother named Acornkit. Hazelkit was born with a disfigured back leg that her parents believed would set her back for moons as she learned how to live with the disability.

But from day one, Hazelkit wouldn't let it slow her down, especially after her siblings started playing and wandering around. She was determined to follow them anywhere. But the leader at the time, Badgerstar, was being heavily influenced by his deputy Weaselpelt, who had a personal grudge against Bearshade and soon his kits. But he honed in on Hazelkit in particular.

While Hazelkit was training, preparing to become an apprentice and ready to learn what the world was like, Weaselpelt was whispering secrets and rumors to Badgerstar.

The Middle. . .

Things changed when Hazelkit became Hazelpaw. She was looked at as a "special case" and was allowed to be mentored by her own father Bearshade. This allowed the two of them to get rather close over the years. But Hazelpaw was constantly bullied by Weaselpelt's own apprentice who was older than her by only a few moons, Nettlepaw.

Nettlepaw bullied her, always pointing out that she could never be as good of a warrior as everyone else because of her leg. But Hazelpaw ignored him, and instead focused on becoming better. She realized she had an unfair disadvantage pushed against her but she would not let it dominate her life. She would be a good warrior just like everyone else was, especially her father Bearshade.

Nettlepaw became Nettlebite and joined his former mentor in a plan that would soon nearly ruin Hazelpaw's life.

The End. . .

As Badgerstar started getting older and more senile, it was anticipated that Weaselpelt would take over soon. And as Nettlebite and Weaselpelt fed Brindleleaf and Ryewhisker hints of a disastrous prophecy that would be spearheaded by Ryewhisker's own daughter Hazelpaw, things began to drastically change.

Badgerstar was convinced that Hazelpaw would cause nothing but trouble. So when the day came that her name was changed to Lostleg, right in front of her whole clan, everyone was shocked. And only a few days later, Nettlebite and Weaselpelt accused Lostleg of poisoning his prey with hazelnuts. Badgerstar was not merciful as he forbade Lostleg from ever returning to her clan. He said that she wasn't fit to be a proper warrior from the beginning and he should have kicked her out a long time ago.

Her family did not believe the accusation though and snuck her prey and medicine when she needed it. But Lostleg would not back down. She knew that Nettlebite was full of lies, and Weaselpelt was worse and was trying to steal the leadership. So with the help of her brother Acornnose, sister Birdbelly, and her always loving father Bearshade, they worked to bring Weaselpelt to justice. It came down to a battle in the camp that ended Weaselpelt's life, and soon after Badgerstar, as Lostleg brought them to justice using her claws. Nettlebite ran off into the woods, deciding his life was worth more than this futile attempt to become the leader.

Lostleg was appointed the new deputy after the deaths of Weaselpelt and Badgerstar. She went on to reclaim the insulting title that Badgerstar had given her and resumed her life as Loststar, the newest leader of GladeClan.

Design Notes

  • Can be drawn in a more realistic round style (I just draw them in this blocky style).
  • Star on her forehead is a must!!
  • Three stripes on her tail do not cover the tip ever!!
  • Has two tufts of fur on the side of her face that tend to stick up.
  • One brown stripe that look like claw marks are always below her eyes.
  • Her back left leg is the one that is disfigured.
Trivia

  • NOMENCLATURE
    • Hazel for her hazel eyes
    • Lost for her disability
    • Leg for her leg, again
    • Star for her position as leader
  • Her theme song is Part of Me by Katy Perry
  • The thin stripes below her eyes along with the star are her leader marks.
  • Her litter was born in August, making them Earth elements.
FAMILY

  • Bearshade (father)
    • Loststar was mentored by her father and is very close to him. Despite him being very old, Loststar dreads the day he has to go to StarClan. If he was a few moons younger she would have made him deputy.
  • Ryewhisker (parent)
    • Ryewhisker is GladeClan's medicine cat, and raised Loststar and her siblings. They encouraged their kits to get along and stay close as this would likely be their first and final litter of kits before passing on. They are incredibly proud of Loststar and has helped her through all of the trials and tribulations she's faced.
  • Acornnose (brother)
    • While not incredibly close, Loststar knows she can depend on her brother at a moment's notice. Acornnose was always the sensible one of the bunch, while Loststar was off getting in trouble and Birdbelly was trying to look as pretty as possible, he was always there to support them.
  • Birdbelly (sister)
    • Loststar is often seen in the nursery with Birdbelly, chatting and gossiping as sisters do. They're incredibly close and Loststar is eager to meet her future family members one day. They're also in a bit of a spat over names at the moment. Loststar suggested Tulip for a name, while Birdbelly suggested Oat. But it's all in good fun.
