Coelacanth

From afar, Coelacanth might come across as a quieter, more reserved feline. But once someone actually meets him, that impression falls apart pretty quickly. In truth, he’s quite amiable. Coelacanth likes to smile, likes to laugh—but more than that, he enjoys making others smile and laugh. He tends to keep a light tone in conversation and is usually willing to play along with whatever energy someone else brings, so long as it keeps the atmosphere pleasant.

At heart, he’s a people pleaser. The type who doesn’t want to be an interference, a burden, or the cause of tension in a group. He tries to keep any snark or irritation tucked away, smoothing things over with humor or an easy smile. Most of the time, he succeeds—but like anyone, he has his limits. Coelacanth isn’t known for having much of an attitude, though if his patience wears thin, it becomes much harder for him to hide his annoyance. When that mask slips, the irritation underneath can show more plainly than he’d like.

But much of that friendliness is, in its own way, a kind of armor. Beneath it all, Coelacanth is actually pretty awkward. He overthinks nearly everything he says or does, gets overwhelmed more easily than he lets on, and often tires more quickly than others might expect. There are parts of himself he keeps carefully hidden as well. He can be somewhat self-serving, quietly prioritizing his own survival over others—save for a small handful of felines he genuinely cares about. He rarely lets anyone get too close to his real thoughts or feelings, preferring to keep his true opinions tucked safely away where they can’t complicate things.
