Overview

Elspeth attended wizard college, realized very quickly that she was way too stupid to be a wizard, but had already committed herself to the swishy, sparkling wizard aesthetic, and so everyone is quite surprised to find out the lovely lady in all her robes and capes swings around axes for fun, and she is quite good at it, and she enjoys it very much.

Her primary personality trait is "stupid"—she still pays student loans to a college she helped destroy in a student uprising led by her sorority following the discovery that it was a front for a cult. Oblivious to its intentions, she cheerfully took the weapon her sorority sister handed her and jumped right into the fray just out of sheer enthusiasm to be a part of something. In some ways, Elspeth is a stereotypical vapid sorority girl, always living for the moment and no farther than the next fun party. While her sorority moved on and matured, though, becoming a force of freedom fighters, Elspeth...didn't, and eventually, the hassle she caused by failing to take responsibility for herself or treat their mission (or much of anything, really) with any gravity outweighed her usefulness in combat, so they kicked her out.

Extroverted and friendly, Elspeth gets by mostly because she's cute. To her credit, she's easy to get along with, and happily steers social interactions with an eager enthusiasm too contagious to say no to. She's the sort of friend you come to whenever you need a good time, but not for much else; Elspeth takes her live-in-the-moment philosophy to a selfish extreme, always flouncing excitedly away from anything that might become too serious in favor of the next party.

Without her sorority, though, Elspeth has lost her entire friends group, and she's realizing that she never thought about what she was doing with her life farther past the next target she'd be asked to take an axe to. The world is wide and vast, and, starting fresh like this, she's bound to stumble into her place in it.

World Info

Esterra is the name of both the world and the supercontinent it consists of. It's very classic swords and sorcery Fantasy Medieval Europe as would be expected of a classic Dungeons & Dragons world, for the most part. Technology sticks generally to a medieval level, with some exceptions: firearms are a recent discovery, and incredibly rare, with most never having seen one in their lives. There are a small handful of eccentrics in the world capable of far greater machinations; one C.A.R. ("carbon automated ride") exists, propelled by magic alongside machinery. The setting is high magic, with people able to use some measure of it easily found.

Appearance Notes

Please use this piece as a primary reference!

  • Beauty mark under her left eye.
  • Stud piercing on the right side of her nose.
  • Never without her necklace, a shining rainbow crystal on a gold chain. She has a matching one with Madgherash.
  • Nails are short and well taken care of, usually with some kind of colorful polish.
  • Surprisingly kind of beefy, on account of all that axe-swinging. You're not likely to notice in the day-to-day while she's flouncing about but it's like all of a sudden she flexes her arms and it's the medieval world's first guns.
  • Under no circumstances does Elspeth allow herself to be seen without makeup. She wears glittery, vibrantly-colored eye makeup and highlighter—they absolutely aren't "natural" looks so much as an excuse to cover herself in more shiny things.
  • Her armor is glamoured, and so it can take on whatever appearance she wants. This means swishy dresses and snazzy capes at all times, while still having the full defensive benefits of wearing heavy armor.
    • At any given time, the components of her outfit that are legitimate instead of just glamoured are: her nose ring, her hat, her manicure, her makeup, her earrings, and her rainbow necklace. Everything else is likely a glamour, with the exception of potentially some jewelry.
  • In general, she's very vain, and she takes meticulous care of her appearance. She hates to be seen looking anything less than her best, so her outfits are always well-coordinated, her makeup on point, and her hair cared for and styled.
backstory goes here
Elspeth is...
  • impulsive
  • dumb as a fucking brick
  • oblivious as all hell
  • violent
  • terrified of being alone
  • flirtatious
Elspeth is not...
  • intentionally cruel
  • under the assumption that any of her bonds with people will last
  • Martial weapons proficiency (she favors the axe and the sword)
  • Paladin magic:
    • Elspeth gets her powers from the goddess Historia, who watches over an oath made to girl code with the rest of her sorority. She has access to an array of paladin spells, as well as those available to followers of the oath of redemption (which we've kept the mechanics of while homebrewing the tenets).
    • Smites are really the most important thing here: Elspeth can imbue her melee attacks with divine power to make them more effective.
  • Various Aasimar nonsense.

  • Elspeth loves "gross" things; she thinks spiders and weird bugs are just adorable, and gets a giggly sort of glee out splattering about as much brain matter as she can when she rips her axe out of a monster corpse. She's self-aware enough to realize that her preferences are, uh, interesting, but it's another of the many things she considers a matter of living her best life, and therefore everyone who wants to tell her off for it can shove it.
  • A noted Useless Lesbian (tm), Elspeth is the sort who falls in love with every single pretty girl she sees on sight and wants to make sure every single one of her friends knows about it. She's got the charisma to keep from turning into a nonfunctional blithering mess around pretty ladies, at least, but you can't take her anywhere before she just starts flirting with the masses.
    • She's an equal-opportunity flirt because she likes attention, but only flirts with boys who come to her first and quickly gets bored of the interaction, whereas, again she'll approach and fawn over any cute girl at all. She's got an excellent sense of boundaries, though, and quickly backs off of anyone who isn't interested.
  • She gets most of her clothes from Ye Olde Navy. I can't believe my DM let me do this.
  • In the process of choosing a name for herself, she's decided to eschew a surname altogether; it keeps the focus on a first name she's very fond of, separates her from a family name she has no attachment to, and adds an air of ~whimsical mystery (or so she likes to think).
  • Though she isn't afraid of ghosts, she is afraid of what if she meets one and she tries to stab it and her sword just goes right through. In that situation, she wouldn't have a backup plan and she knows it.
  • Her greatest fear is being alone. All of her many complexes—fear of being worthless, being unwanted, being abandoned—come back to it in the end.
  • Her western zodiac sign is Aries. In-universe, April is known as Rain Moon.
  • Her blood type is O+.
