Wallace’s accomplishments have led him to believe that he is simply better than most people. He generally measures people’s worth by how logical, book-smart, and articulate they are, and is quick to dismiss the opinions of those who he sees as lacking those traits. Once someone been assigned a ranking in his mental hierarchy, they're pretty much stuck there for good. However, if someone does manage to prove him wrong about something, he quickly gets flustered and angry, especially if they're not someone he sees as an equal. Wallace doesn’t believe in the value of casual conversation. Instead of talking with others to form a connection with them, he tends to approach social interaction as either a way of gathering information or as an intellectual contest. Therefore, discussions with him often end up taking the form of interrogations, and if he doesn’t feel like he’s getting anything useful out of the other person, he’ll just leave.
