Aliment Traits and Anatomy Details

He seems completely smooth, meaning that no dirt or dust sticks on him and him usually being a very clean boy.

If you pet him, he releases a thick chocolate and peppermint scent, his darker markings releasing a more richer chocolate scent than the rest. Whether or not he will let you find that out is completely up to him

His peppermints on his back are loosely attached in a way that if you tried to directly pry them off you will earn a spot on the blacklist, but a few tumbles here and there will have one or two fall off. After that happens they're perfectly edible, albiet they will taste sandier and like you're suckling on jerky. Still will taste like peppermint though!

His claws are made out of sharpened peppermint, meant for digging through dirt to find ants and other bugs of the like, which he can in the backyard provided for him, but he would rather be fed than find it on his own.

His eyes aren't completely red, like dogs and cats, if he shifts his eyes to the side you will see his eyewhites.

Personality

A aardbark pure of heart, but only if supplied with the right amount of food.

Koshoiru is loyal to a fault, shy to strangers and a coward to everything scary. There is a reason why his brother is considered the guard jook of the house while he's allowed to hide in his little burrow until the danger is gone. But when it's peacetime he will cuddle up to those he finds to be family, eat his meal graciously and live his life in a way that makes his heart feel full and fulfilled.

He is shy around strangers, even as to say wary, but the key to his heart is naught but a few chocolate covered ants, maybe the key to a bulldozer to sacrifice any and all ambitions. There had been an incident in the past where Koshoiru would follow a guest home because the ants kept falling out of a hole in their bag, and had to be returned the next day because it was too late to turn back.

But even if you give him a mountain of ants to go through his heart will always be with his family.

Biography

It's not completely clear where the aardbark came from, whether it was the previous owners' or he made the house a home after the they left, Doya had an unwelcome welcoming party of one aardbark. And he wasn't friendly. He didn't come to chase Doya out, attack him outright or cause any major damage to the furnishings to the home, but when they met eyes he squealed in a manner that made it obvious that he didn't want Doya here. That and he knocked over precious figurines that cost Doya a pretty penny and maybe that factored into him not wanting the aardbark at first but that'snotsoimportant... He wasn't going to leave either, despite Doya's multiple attempts to relocate the aardbark or to put it bluntly kick him out, the aardbark always found a way back in, burrowed in little pockets of the house, under the bed, in the laundry anywhere that allowed him to make a cave to call his own. Until Doya scooted him out again and again and again.

And you know, a few weeks of this, can really wear a foodie down. And he eventually came up with a solution that if neither of them was going to leave the estate, they might as well be on good terms. A bit of research later and a trip to the pet store to get some chocolate bugs, a lot of chocolate bugs, he started project roommate. It was an ardous week of getting the aardbark to understand that Doya wasn't going to try kicking him out anymore, and it took even longer for them to stop treating each other like strangers. Doya found himself enjoying the noise the aardbark made to fill the silence, and he wasn't so lonely anymore in his forest home. So that meant his little roommate deserved a name.

Hello Koshoiru. Despite how bad that name was structurally, it stuck no matter how much his friends griped with it. Koshoiru was Doya's buddy, his watching partner, something to fill the gaps of his social life. So it was only Doya and Koshoiru in his house, and whatever friends Doya brought over he would always hide and bleat somewhat aggressively before hiding again. So Doya wasn't sure how he would feel about meeting Polly.

And it took Doya that long to make it into Koshoiru's heart, imagine how long it took Polly even with Doya's guidance. IMAGINE HOW LONG IT TOOK SUIKA TO HAVE HIM WARM UP TO. But eventually they were all one happy family living in one roof, everyday a load of fun for Koshoiru, he wasn't lonely with Polly staying at home all the time, and even if Koshoiru didn't want to play-fight with Suika, he enjoyed having a hunting partner.

So when it was time to move to somewhere far far away from all Koshoiru has ever known, Doya was surprised to see Koshoiru waiting in the open carrier with no fear in his eyes. Maybe because he knew what the moving boxes meant, but he was ready when Doya was to go into the great unknown future.

Extra Notes

  • He has a big stuffed ant in his colors that Doya got him one day, if you were to ask Doya where he got it, he would not be able to tell you, it's been around for a while.
  • Polly's family LOVES koshoiru because of his peppermint aspects, they make him tailored clothes for him to fight the cold and wet, and begrudgingly they now own a wardrobe of outfits Koshoiru will wear and in FACT squeal if he is to go outside without them.
  • Over the few years Doya has had him for, Koshoiru has learned how to shake him paw and go in circles on command. However, this has backfired to where he will only do it if it is for food.
  • Although cowardly, Koshoiru will be the one to stand up to defend the family if Suika is out of commission (aka napping) only to go run into the nearest safe zone. Old habits die hard I guess.
  • He won't hunt food for survival anymore as mentioned above, but instead seek out the nearest oriface where bugs may be crawling in and out of and that will be his entertainment for a while.
