Profile
Basics:
Name: Lostsight
Nickname: “Dreamer”
Gender: Tom (he/him)
Status: Warrior
Personality: Patient, trusting, idealistic, gentle, naive, visionary, stubborn, hopeful
Likes: The sound of trees in the wind, warmth, quiet company, listening to stories, rainfall, new scents
Dislikes: Cruelty and deceit, feeling useless, arguments between others
Strengths:
Heightened hearing due to already having no sense of sight.
Navigates and hunts through scent more than listening because it makes it easier for him to track things.
Strong sense of empathy for those who he feels deserves it, will not back down to comfort and support them.
Weaknesses:
Believes too easily in the good of others, even if he feels they have twisted intentions.
He heavily relies on others, such as Rat or Wolfstalker, to help or protect him in certain situations.
He overlooks warnings and hard truths until it is simply too late to turn back.
Backstory:
Lostsight was born during leaf-bare, being the smallest of his litter and cursed with a blindness that would forever take his sight. His eyes never opened, though his mother, Mothwillow, swore he was born looking toward the stars. The other kits grew up quickly, tumbling and fighting, while he stumbled and tripped over moss. Many thought he wouldn't survive the harshness of leaf-bare, but his mother refused to give up on him. She taught her kit how to listen with not just his ears, but also his heart.
As a kit, he was quiet, observant, and endlessly patient. He memorized voices as he did scent and the rhythm of pawsteps. When others played their mock battles, he stood aside, listening to the wind that rustled the trees, dreaming of what he couldn't see. What he thought the real world hid from him.
As an apprentice, his mentor, Dewclaw, was strict but fair. He was determined to make something of such a fragile cat. Training was harsh but he soon adapted to it. He learned to use sound, scent, and even the slightest of vibrations in the ground. Still, his blindness isolated him. He wasn't chosen for patrols often, and whispers followed him wherever he went. He buried his pity beneath a quiet determination. Over time, he began to speak of how StarClan must have chosen his blindness for a purpose. His faith grew with it, as did peace.
At the final moon of his apprenticeship, Mothwillow had grown weak. She had been sick, trying to hide her weakness from the rest, telling others she had eaten, or she was just tired. She had collapsed without warning and Lostpaw had no idea what to do. Panicked, he kept calling his mothers name over and over again.
When other warriors found him in the warriors den, he was still lying beside his deceased mother. Some say he was whispering for her to wake up, even after her burial.
By the time he earned his warrior name, Lostsight, many saw it as a cruel title, but he took it as a reminder of his endurance. He became a quiet symbol of hope within the clan. His presence made him a trusted voice during tension or grief.
He began to dream of leading others to greatness to prove that even the weakest can guide the strong. It was during one night, however, when he wandered too far that he ran into Rat. At first, he didn't know how to react to someone who was considered an outsider. But, the promise that Rat gave him made him reconsider. He was promised that Rat would be his eyes, his guide, his confidant. After those words left the stranger's mouth, Lostsight welcomed him with open trust.
Lostsight believes that destiny has set him and Rat on the same path. With Wolfstalker guiding his side, even being unfaithful that such a rogue could help a warrior without a price to be paid, he feels safe and comforted no matter what happens. Lostsight promises that Rat means no harm, that they share the same fate of a different life. But fate is not as kind as it seems. His “eyes” are leading him into ruin, and Lostsight's faith may become the tool that destroys everything he loves.
