It doesn't really make a whole lot of sense to her competitors, since Memo finishes her runs covered in just as much dirt as the rest of them. But really, it's about more than just looks. The time Memo sets aside for grooming is really to help her get into the competitive mindset. This brief period of peace helps the cheetah find focus and go over her strategies for competing. She thinks of herself as more mature because of this, and has a hard time getting along with younger cats.
