Profile
Name Origins:
Doll: Birth name, for her quiet nature as a kitten. Sometimes the twolegs would confuse her for a toy she'd be so still and quiet.
Plumflame: Her initial warrior name when she was a younger cat. Plum- for the grey-violet fur on on her body, where -flame came from the more "burning" role she took on to be intimidating.
Dogcall: Her new self-given warrior name. She finds it more appropriate since she acts as a warning call for her twoleg's dog in the junkyard.
- Personality -
+ Confident, Allocentric, Strategic +
Even growing up, Doll had always put her siblings and others before herself. It comes naturally to her, to forget herself for the sake of others, however this isn't to say she won't make herself the center of attention. Quite the opposite, if it's for the sake of the greater whole, she will gladly make herself a target. This behavior had made her learn to think on her paws. She's quite strategic, knowing not just her twoleg's home, but the junkyard inside and out has made her able to avoid most dangers or ward them off. This lifestyle, along with growing up pretending to be a warrior (typically an 'evil' coded cat) has given her a confidence that wasn't initially well placed, but she has since gotten better skills to put behind it.
= Realistic, Challenging, Boisterous =
No longer the little quiet kit who is lost the land of make-believe, Doll has gotten more realistic with her way of life. For her, being a fabled warrior is no longer a daydream, but a day job as she protects the junkyard from unwanted guests and pest. This means that she could no longer stand by and wait for others to make the first move. She's learned to go to action before talking most of the time thanks to the gangs of the streets, though this challenging nature often swings both positively for the defense of those under her care and negatively since it makes it hard for her to immediately trust strangers. Along with this she's learned to be loud. Not just in actions, but in voice. The dog-speaking cat has become a noted siren for the junkyard dogs when things get too rowdy.
- Resigned, Phlegmatic, Self-Defacing -
Doll is convinced that they can never truly be a hero, even with all the good it tries to do. Thus she has become resigned to its roles as an aggressive junkyard cat. Constantly telling herself at night that this was just who she was meant to be... though her night mentor whispers much kinder things to her. Those she's much louder now, Doll has remained rather stolidly, calm beyond belief in tone. You really can't tell her anger coming forth until you see the claws unsheath or her hackles raise.
- Backstory -
Kithood:
Doll had been born in a litter of four to a kittypet named Poppy, who had been allowed to wander freely without a collar. She had a one-night stand with a Clan cat and couldn't be prouder of her half-clan kits. Growing up with exaggerated stories led Doll and her other siblings to believe their mother knew more than she truly did, meaning they clung to every word.
They often played "warriors" in the garden, Doll naming herself Plumflame. They'd pretend they were in their own little clan, fighting off predators and other monsters, or having "clan battles". Often, Doll ended up taking on the roll of the "evil" clan leader coming to fight the "good" clan over territory or some other made up dispute. She never truly took to heart the words said in those playtimes, but what did stick was how she always seemed to be such a "good fit". Part of her now believes that it was because it never spoke up about wanting to be one of the "hero" cats for once.
Eventually, the kits were separated and sent off to their own Housefolks. Doll got picked pretty fast, given her quiet and easy-to-handle nature. Her twolegs had been a sweet little girl with pigtails who would carry it so close to her heart it was like they shared the rhthym.
Teens+/City Life:
The home she was in was... a chaotic one. The little girl, who Doll called her "Honeypaw" for her young age and sweet demeanor, often kept the kitten close and in her personal den in the big house. But the adults? There was shouting, things that made "Honeypaw's" other companion, a puppy that was already bigger than the cat named Din whine and whimper before seeking solace in both Doll and Honeypaw. And the kitten didn't really... know how to deal with this. The noise, the anxiety from her girl and the puppy. She did what she could, purring and rubbing up along them, even picking up enough dog to convey basic things to Din.
Then, one day, "Honeypaw's" mother left, taking "Honeypaw" with her. The housefolk left, a still kind man who Din called "master" but Doll referred to as Metalbreaker (because she had seen him work on cars from a window), took very good care of them. And Honeypaw still came back every now and then, though once she was old enough Doll started calling her Honeyrose instead as she grew more vain and distant from Doll and Din.
"Metalbreaker" began letting Doll and Din join him at work. Though this was much to the twoleg's heart health seeing as Doll had found it enjoys curling up on the warm engine of the cars he worked on. Leading to some singed fur over the moons as well as a few vet visits.
When she was around 20 moons old she was finally brough to the Junkyard. A place of piles of rust and metal, glass and sharp points... And Doll was fascinated. The open windows and little divets could be perfect dens. This... seemed like a great place to live as she caught the faint smell of rats.
Doll started to thrive here. Catching rats, patrolling with Din. Though sometimes she wasn't so lucky and the canine would go off somewhere else when the twolegs called. During one of these times is what caused most, if not all of Doll's scars. Getting into a fight with a particularly aggressive street cat who didn't even try to talk things out, the two went through one of the already cracked and broken windows of a car. The loud yowl was enough to alert Din, who then alerted the twolegs with his panicked snarls and barks so that the feline could be rushed to the vet.
Since then, Doll has called herself Dogcall with how quick Din was to answer its cry. But that's also when it became more cautious about other cats who would come around the junkyard (that she didn't know). However, she wasn't free, having to pay a sort of "tax" to a gang cat named Stormsquall. She detests this cat, but puts in the work to keep him at bay... especially as now she has a few cats of her own that she's aiding in taking care of. Street cats who are either too old to fend for themselves or too young to find their place.
Dogcall refers to herself as a "leader" of these cats and refers to her territory as "Monsterclan" since she knows that the cats of the clans call cars "monsters" as a deterrent from anyone who may try to bother them with ill intention. Though... there are times she wonders if she should find aid in the clan cats, to see if they'd help her end Stormsquall's reign of terror on the Borough. Perhaps it was time she visited her "old clanmates" and had a family reunion.
