once the banner-bearer of the siren queen's army, mars is a decorated war hero that has now retired from the vanguard of battle in pursuit of her hobbies.
and her hobby just happens to be bloodsports in a controlled environment. having taken over an abandoned sunken colosseum she turned it into a place for the young mer to practice battle and put on a spectacle for those interested in watching.
even in retirement the battlemistress has not lost anything from her fire, she personally makes sure the fights are fought fairly (and it must better remain in such way unless the over-eager participants want to see her hop into the foray to deliver swift justice).
