Profile

Penelope "Penny" Tran is a Vietnamese-American transgender lesbian, born to loving and supportive parents, with a rather strange extended family. Penny is a neohuman with the ability to manifest a strange, tough blue metal from her hands into solid objects of whatever shape she chooses, but any object she creates will disintegrate entirely after five minutes, and there is a maximum amount of metal she can have created at once.

Whenever her parents were busy as a child, Penny would spend most of her time with her eccentric Aunt Kim, a strange and charismatic woman with a dark and mysterious past and a large range of seemingly disparate and unconnected skills. Her most prominent skill is cookery; she is an accomplished chef who teaches Penny everything she knows about how to cook with flair and panache, how to put on a show making delicious food of all kinds. Kim also teaches her niece how to defend herself, both in hand-to-hand, armed close combat and ranged weaponry, particularly focused on thrown knives and especially archery.

Penny has a very close bond with her Aunt, and they love each other very much, which makes it all the more terrible when tragedy strikes and Kim is found seemingly dead in a mysterious explosion, her prosthetic arm all that's left of her. It is this tragedy that spurs Penny into action, taking up a mask, a bow and the supranym Pinpoint, she becomes a vigilante to investigate the mysteries surrounding her aunt, teaming up with the other vigilantes of Rose City and delving into a whole world of secrets.

Penny is an upbeat, cheerful girl with incredible combat skills, especially with ranged weapons. She is capable of pulling off fantastic trickshots, and has the advantage of never running out of ammunition, due to her neohuman powers. Penny is also a skilled fencer and can manifest a sword in no time. Eventually she learns to manifest metal from places other than her hands, allowing her to form instant armour in situations where she might need that. She always carries multiple spare bowstrings on hand, just in case she gets caught out, and needs to save the day without time to change. Penny is also mostly deaf, requiring hearing aids to have a full range of hearing. The mask of her supersuit contains audio transcription technology to help her with both regular hearing and espionage, and has a less hero-oriented version of the technology in her day-to-day eyeglasses. Penny is fluent in ASL, English, Vietnamese, Spanish and Arabic, as she likes learning languages and communicating with people.
