Yoko was a normal little girl in elementary school. She had friends, happy family, and everything was good until... She managed to start getting along with the most popular boy in class, Makoto. Makoto didn't like girls, but when Yoko spent hours trying to help him find his lost cat, they started to get along. Other girls in class did not like this, and Yoko started to get bullied. Mainly by a girl named Emma. Yoko couldn't understand why her classmates suddenly turned on her, and decided to apologize and make a gift for everyone. Yoko stayed up all night, making friendship bracelets for everyone in class. The next morning, she passed them all out, and everyone seemed to really like them.. Especially Makoto. Emma did not like this.. and told everyone to throw them away when Yoko was out of the room. For the most part, every one did as she asked. Except Makoto, who gladly kept his.. and Emma, who didn't want Makoto to see her throwing hers away. When Yoko saw all the bracelets thrown out, her heart broke and she collected them and ran home. Sadly.. on her way there a drunk driver did not stop as she crossed the road and... Yoko did not make it. When Yoko awoke, she was a ghost. No one could hear or see her. She was alone and afraid, unsure of what to do. Her only solace came when she went to her own funeral. Only one of her classmates attended; Makoto. She figured he wouldn't see her either, so she went up to him.. Only to have him look at her in terror. For some reason, he, and only he could see and hear her. When Yoko explained this, Makoto made a promise. He would take responsibility as the only human that could see her, and would stay with her forever. Thus, began their life together.
As the years passed, Yoko and Makoto became the best of friends.. despite the fact Yoko was dead. He cared for her and kept her company. He allowed her to follow him at school, and they were always together. That changed however, when he got into high school. Suddenly, he asked her to stop coming with him to school.. and he's started to be more distant as well. Why? How can Yoko close the gap that's formed between these star-crossed lovers?
