Backstory

- raised by her aunt in Heron with her brother 

- Her aunt waited tables and worked with an alchemist on the side to send them both to school. 

-Her brother is 4 years older than her 

- He goes off to continue schooling down south across the Ravier Ocean

- Alaska continues her education at Heron before she earns an internship with Doctor Laurie Dreyford in New Lexington / during this time the planetary disruptions begin - she and Laurie begin working on the unity project 

- Due to laws in New Lexington prohibiting the combination of magic and science Laurie and Al must go into hiding when the project is uncovered 

-Al is sent to the only known town to practice magic and science together on the planet - forced to use both forces together in order to survive the high altitude 

- Al takes a friend she brought onto the project with her - Cliff
