Officer Heather Storm

"You can’t always get what you need by following all the rules!"

BACKSTORY

Heather Storm is a stalwart officer of the law, but she hasn't always been.  As a teenager, she was quite the troublemaker, and only joined field hockey in high school so she could get out of classes.  But when her friends were harassed and stolen from by an even rougher gang of punks, that experience urged her into her school's law enforcement vocational program.  She got fit enough to trash those punks the next time she saw them, and then later on in life where she found herself kind of out of jobs, she revisited that career path and became a cop.

With a lot of skill and a little luck, Heather even managed to put away a prolific serial killer who mistook her for an easy target.  Her meteoric rise hit a major snag, however, when she was assigned a case no one could have solved.  She found herself matching wits with a master manipulator, for whom breaking the aforementioned killer out of jail was just one move of many.  In the end, the perp got away, kidnapping her best friend's boyfriend in the process.  All she can do is return to work, stick to her beat in River City, and hope that she can find an opportunity to bring Mr. Lee to justice someday...

PERSONALITY

Heather may be a cop, but by no means is she a stickler for the law.  Her goal is to see River City safe from major threats, a goal she often chases to the exclusion of more mundane police duties.  Even then, Heather isn't above skirting around due process, if she sees it as an impediment to justice.  She quickly finds herself as a loose cannon, almost always at odds with her superiors.  (Due to some of her prolific arrests, she's a bit "too big to fire", so to speak.)  If she can't do something, she's not above soliciting help from those less burdened by rules; Nicole Ellery, as a violent and eager pugilist, soon becomes a common patsy.

When not on the beat, Heather lives in a cramped apartment downtown.  Her hobbies include joyriding in her car, bar-hopping looking for people to beat at darts, and sparring with Nicole and other such friends.  She frequently lands in opportunities to become a "team mom" of sorts, opportunities she's too perpetually jaded and tired to work with.  Every time she thinks she's seen it all, some other surprise like cyborgs or animalfolk crosses her radar.  After enough such incidents, Heather's been desensitized to surprises, and instead has become a pragmatic thinker, focused on solving whatever problem's at hand.  When there's no problems for her to solve, she prefers to unwind however she can, for those moments are few and far between.
