BACKGROUND:

Fort grew up in a small rural settlement on the outer edges of Fantasia, a regular farmland bordered by a dense forest which was very far from the kingdom’s polished stone and ceremonial guards. The town did not have as much as them, but it had peace. Fort became its watcher, an intelligent wolf who understands humanoid speech and uses a blade skillfully to ward off enemies and predators. He often patrolled treelines and stood beside farmers during harsh winters. To him, they were not merely townsfolk but part of his pack. Soon, tales of his bravery began to spread outside of the town and into the kingdom. Unbeknownst to him, he became a popular folk legend and beings around the realm idolized him for his grit and protective nature.
One night, some monsters came to his land, and nothing about them was familiar. Their bodies moved and looked wrong as if it was switched from shadow, and their aggression was much more deliberate rather than purely instinctual. They tore through the settlements as if they were testing it. Fort began targeting each of them and slashing with his knife in an effort to find their weaknesses. But the monsters were too different, he didn't know how to defeat them. He fought with every ounce of his strength until he could no longer stand. In the chaos, he was wounded beyond recovery. And even in his dying moments, he couldn't give up. He wanted to save his people. But he could no longer move his body. By that point, he could only listen to the screams of the townsfolk and smell the pungent scent of blood and smoke all around him. It was so painful- other than his grave wounds, seeing his people get slaughtered one after another made him howl in remorse and regret. His heart did not stop until long after his body should have given out. His last memory... was of his failure.
Chaos and then silence. A mysterious figure appears to have subdued all the monsters in one fell swoop. After a while, Fort miraculously began to breathe again. All of his mortal wounds were gone except the scars that he accumulated in the past. He awoke among corpses that no longer moved and the threat already disposed off. And then he felt it, the black cloak wrapped around him with a very dark aura. He recognized it- necromancy. Someone must have revived him with this cloak, but he didn't know who. He's heard of this magic before, but he's never experienced it firsthand. To him, necromancy didn't feel like the gentle pulse of nature or life- it felt more cold, sharp, and controlled. Even so, it's the only thing that's keeping him alive at this moment.
Looking at his torn village, he grieved and grieved for all the lost innocent souls of his people. He took his time gathering the corpses and burying them respectfully to honor their lives. And then he swore vengeance to whoever or whatever brought those unfamiliar monsters to their village. But with no home left and no direction to go, he decided to reside in a nearby cave waiting for someone to pass by this.. graveyard. He was hoping, he could find another home he could belong to, so that he could have another chance to avenge the souls he lost. He did blame himself for his lack of power and understanding of those strange entities, but he genuinely wanted to get better- to train with all his might. To get back at those creatures and to step above his incompetence.
After waiting for some time, he saw a dragonborn nearing his cave. By the looks of his armor, he must have been a warrior of very high ranking. Fort did not attack immediately, nor did he flee, he only stood his ground. The dragonborn challenged him- testing his strength, discipline, and intent. He fought back like he always has, with the determination of a protector, and not a monster. That was all that mattered to the dragonborn. After some thought, the dragonborn offered him partnership, and of course he accepted it. This was finally his chance to be even stronger than he once was- all the while training alongside this powerful warrior.
From that day forward, Fort became more than a survivor, he found a pack again. He trained relentlessly with Krieg and also formed an unbreakable bond with him. Sometimes, Krieg would lend him one of his greatswords so that he could extend his reach and exert more power. They fought many battles together to the point where his loyalty became absolute and Krieg was his family.
Whether it was curiosity, calculation, or mercy that led to his revival remains unknown. However, with all that is said and done, he is living proof that necromancy did not strip away his heart, and if the barrier continues to thin, he may one day discover who gave his life back to him.
DESIGN NOTES:
- If you stylize his eyes, I heavily prefer if you color his sclera as black instead of white!
- He has really fluffy fur especially in his neck ruff
- He has a big imposing figure
- He wears a rugged and tattered black cloak (This accessory is NOT optional)
- At the base of the cloak, it is pinned with the necromancy symbol and the Aries symbol stacked ontop of the other (This accessory is NOT optional)
- His regular weapon is a knife, but he sometimes wields one of Krieg's greatswords for extra firepower (Drawing him with weapons is optional)
- Do not forget that he has a claw mark scar on his right eye
- If he's far away, you can draw him without pupils
