Richard Derwent

General Info

Richard is a kind-hearted and soft-spoken man, often seeing the best in other people and helping those he can. Unfortunately he can also put others before himself, thinking higher of other people and often putting himself down as though other people deserve much better than himself.
He's riddled with anxiety and tends to keep to himself often, if he doesn't already know someone he can come off as shy and awkward.

Richard has a passion for electronics of many kinds, he fixes, designs, and builds many types of machines and tools, ranging from computers to high-tech robots. He finds machines exciting and amazing and he's motivated to create better and greater things.
It's something he really doesn't shy away from nor back down from.

Background

As a kid Richard had always been a shy and quiet one, preferring not to talk to people who he doesn’t know and often hiding behind people he does know  

As he got older he had gotten better with this, but was still nervous around people. He spent a lot or time tinkering with machines and devices, from helping his family with the car to deconstructing toys and devices he had and reconstructing them to learn how they were made.

In school he excelled in classes like maths, physics, computing, and the likes and moved onto college to become an engineer.

After graduating he eventually found a job at a laboratory, where he helped build enhanced prosthetic devices for people. The laboratory had many different departments working on different things to help create a better world.

That is until Richard realised it wasn’t. He thought things were shady but when he questioned his higher ups they scolded and shut him down. He never questioned them again but he payed Ezra attention to what was going on in other parts of the building, and payed attention to what people who weren’t him were building.

One day he got called in by his higher ups to talk about a “promotion”  and they asked him what he thought of the company. He hesitated, but in the end told them things were weird, people were building dangerous machines and more people were going missing, he knows it’s because of them and something isn’t right.

They gave him an offer stay and work with them on special devices and he and his family will be safe, or flee and face the consequences.

He now builds less than favourable things, robots made to be weapons. Hyper-resilient drones  

One day he was given the task to build an artificial hearts for one of their live experiments, or else this person would die. He decided to do the only save the only person he was able to for a long time

Extra

• Very good at problem solving and figuring things out, has a very technical mind
• Has a fear of snakes, this extends to snake-like things (such as eels or tentacles)
• His family runs an animal sanctuary which homes animals to both be rehomed and to live there in “retirement” for the rest of their lives. 
• He survives on coffee like wow dang buddy how does he not have caffine poisoning he probably pernemantly smells of coffee
• At least he likes good coffee though so he smells like nice coffee
• He's ambidextrous
• In the future the laboratory amputates one of Richards arms and replaces it with a prototype that he built. It can give off electrical discharges and can be used as a weapon and it also has practical uses. It can be used to weld, to test electronics as the power is easily controllable, and to pick up heavy objects
