- an ancient wolf-shaped creature that absorbs souls to augment their magic abilities.  they carry a number of glass orbs to store captured souls in.  if they've recently absorbed a soul, they'll glow dimly.
- they're working on a long term project, something they consider to be a 'spell that will save the world.'  but that's some kind of hero complex, buddy the world would be better if you didn't steal peoples' souls
- they pretend to be very wise and reasonable, too.  what a jerk
- if an orb could be stolen back, it might be possible to restore the soul to the original owner's body (provided it hadn't decayed that much).  if all else fails, the soul could possibly be sheltered in an object.
