Baby the Clown lived his entire life in the pursuit of making people laugh. Problem is, he could never quite pin down the way to getting laughed at rather than laughed with. A guy can develop a lot of insecurities that way. Nowadays, he's leaning into the whole not-being-taken-seriously affair. His main ghostly power is a weaponized laugh--anyone who gets blasted comes down with a debilitating fit of the giggles. It works out great in combat, but he'll be the first to admit that it makes a pretty darn good emotional defense too. He can get out of just about any serious conversation he doesn't want to have by working his magic and making his leave.
Shortly after Baby's afterlife began, Vlad Plasmius discovered his potential and took him under his wing. It may have been a bit of a hard sell at first (there's a "do I look like I was born yesterday?" "yes." joke in here somewhere), but he's quite comfortable in his position. Not only is he learning ghost powers he didn't even know he was capable of, but Plasmius doesn't make such bad company either--they're both bitter in their own ways, after all. Much to talk about.
Baby had a brief (involuntary) stint working at the Circus Gothica thanks to the power of Freakshow's Crystal Ball Staff. Don't take his word for it, seeing as he wasn't of sound mind at the time, but he actually had a pretty good time! There's a lot to be said about the power of laughter suddenly overcoming a dry audience, plus, erm. Freakshow had a few other uses for Baby that proved mutually beneficial. Naturally Vlad wasn't exactly thrilled with the arrangement once he found out where his little ghost pupil had disappeared to, so he swooped in to rescue him as soon as he was able. Given the choice, though, Baby thinks he'd go back. :)
