Ali

Ali is a hybrid between an "ave" (a big, dinosaur-like type of bird) and a fossa, borne through a fertility rite originally crafted to help ave lay eggs. This went horribly wrong, as the life cycle of an ave is much like a frog's, with a distinct "larval" and "adult" stage. The life cycle of a fossa is not like that. It took the work of many individuals to keep him alive past infancy.

Because of this and later incidents in his life, some people believe he was cursed from birth.

Kept under close watch in Kanawe Vil (Canary City), Ali is forbidden from leaving and suffers under various rules that, to the unaware, seem strange and excessive. He works as a librarian for the political party that hauled him off to Kanawe in the first place, maintaining vast records both public and private.

A massive white spider named Flic-Flac likes to follow him around; he considers her a friend, probably because her color is so unique... it reminds him of another "companion" he has...
