Sage's story begins in the small town of Woodhurst, located on the south end of Bloomwood Lake. Sage's parents brought her into the world one crisp night, the baby everything they could have ever wanted and more. They raised her with love and careful attention, letting her grow and explore the town with their supervision as much as she pleased, wanting her to explore and learn as much as she could on her own. As a child, Sage was quite adventurous and messy, always coming home muddy or full of thorns when she was permitted to romp around town on her own. When she was old enough to enroll in school, she became an avid lover of her science classes, the subject coming naturally to her, and she had decided then that she wanted to be a scientist. Her dream persisted through middle school, wanting nothing more than to spend her time in the laboratory doing little experiments for fun and games.

It wasn't until high school that she became more interested in the branch of ecology, enjoying the ins and outs of how the environment works and how important it is to preserve it. At the time, the fireflies that gave the valley its name were dwindling for no apparent reason, which spurred Sage to take up the torch and research everything she could on the subject, doing her own fieldwork and tests. By graduation, she had amassed quite the following online environmental forums for her fantastic insight into the firefly population, catching the attention of young entomologist Bindi. The two began to talk, and Sage learned just how important insects of all kids were to the environment, the two pairing up after graduation to continue their studies together. At present, Bindi now lives in Woodhurst with Sage, researching more than just fireflies and bugs, the two of them gaining a great job working with Hotaru, the Head Council Leader of the Valley.
