Retainer to Tahire. Gemma joined Tahire to Lemuria at the request of Tahire's parents, and her mission is thus: Protect their daughter as always, and ensure she comes home safe. In her eyes, she is a member of Tahire's guild in name only; she is loyal solely to Tahire and fights for and protects her alone. Although she accompanies the guild into the labyrinth, she does not fight beyond ensuring no danger befalls Tahire, but she will step in and assist with healing efforts for injured guildmembers.

In most instances, Gemma comes off as serious and aloof. This is because she puts a wall between herself and others so that she can focus on her duties to Tahire. In fact, she tries not to let herself become too close to anything or anyplace. She fears that if she becomes too attached, she will eventually come to a crossroads where she needs to decide if she wants to maintain her position as Tahire's retainer, always in her shadow, or if she wants to set out on her own, letting her go wherever her interests lead her.

When she is alone with Tahire and there is no danger, she relaxes a little and lets herself enjoy her mistress's company. Having known Tahire since she was a child, she feels the most comfortable with her and knows Tahire's true nature.
