Nathaniel

Backstory

Nathaniel was once a steadfast, charming, and heroic fighter who dedicated his blade in the effort to combat the Nihil. Known for leading the charge on various missions, this young Erosine embodied courage beyond measure. A role model for the cats who wished to take a stand against the forces plaguing the bonds that shape their world.

However, one fateful day, as he and his team were conducting a raid against a suspicious individual who was experimenting with spreading Nihil, said individual managed to complete the creation of a Funeral. This action dragged Nathaniel and his crew inside, used in part of its creation.

On the brink of becoming truly unmade, Nathaniel still trudged onwards to stop its source. Cursed to take on the appearance of a toy soldier (a result of his incomplete integration to the design of the funeral), he slashed at the funeral's denizens with little more than frenzied desperation to see his mission through. It took the intervention of another cat, currently unnamed, to rescue him from the whole ordeal. Delirious and falling apart, Nathaniel managed to survive nearly becoming a full resident of that funeral. Something that, tragically, didn't include the rest of his team.

Nathaniel unfortunately suffered from extensive injuries that required a prolonged stay in medical care as well as grafting new threads for the parts he lost permanently to the Nihil's embrace. The details of that mission were decidedly kept under wraps from the general public (something which he strongly advocated for). In addition, Nathaniel (understandably) quit his job, leaving behind everything he once stood for. He now takes up teaching other cats how to wield their blades, working part-time as an instructor. All the while, he refuses to ever talk about what he went through, choosing to smile and cover up any of his struggles with a laugh.

Those who knew him before the incident easily see the extinguished spark of passion that once fuelled him, but very few know what truly went down in that raid. Those who don't... just see a charming and handsome cat who's quite adept with a blade. Someone who looks like they should be up to more lofty ambitions, but chooses to enjoy the simpler things in life.

Thankfully, he is in therapy, having an outlet for the complex trauma he went through. Unfortunately, his road to recovery is quite the long one. One that he's still in the process of going through.
