To all with ears this call shall touch
I ask you heed my plea
A mere lone soul whom humbly asks
Will you pay me company?
Should your journey pass the marsh
And black waters, tread through
There am I, the river steed
How patient I wait for you

Forgive my blatant scrutiny
These eyes cannot help see
That far and wide have you traversed
And weary must you be
Worry you shan't for I've found you
Though further you have to roam
Come rest astride my back, dear waif
And I shall take you home

Fear not the stench that fills the air
Nor the bones that blanket the land
Nor the tangled reeds of my dripping mane
That twist around your hand
"Liar! Deceiver! Monster!" You cry
As I turn away from shore
I all but toss my head and laugh
I've heard the words before

Terror settles as your fate unfolds
Beginning your struggle to flee
'Tis all in vain, for we are one
You shan't escape from me
Last breath, "You said you'd take me--"
Oh, traveler, do not you know?
From the moment you trusted the waterhorse
You were already home
