Backstory
Raised into slavery by a tribe of lizardmen known as the Sharkazan as a child, Windallus had only vague, brief memory of his home. He remembered a caring mother, and several siblings that were thankfully spared his fate. However, one day, he was rescued by a man from the kingdom of Sturmgard. Known as Ralidon Dengeist, this man became a father figure of sorts as he joined the Sturmguard military and trained to be just like him., even carrying his own greatsword, encrusted with a diamond he had obtained on the journey back to the kingdom after he was rescued. However, after the Embermaw tribe of dragons began to assault the kingdom, the man was slain in battle. For a while, he rose through the ranks, becoming general. But as Kendesai was mostly in an age of peace, he felt... nothing. He had never quite made friends with anyone due to his background, and the only man he knew he could trust was dead. With no one else to turn to, he eventually left the military and became a sellsword, using an enchanted coat to carry his sizable arsenal of weapons. This would bring him a sense of satisfaction, but it wouldn't last long.

He was contacted, and offered another job. Upon answering, however, he was confronted by a hooded figure. This figure claimed to be a cleric of the gods, and said that the mission he had for Windallus was simple; Attack him. Windallus wearily complied, but found that his attacks weren't working. He wasn't even missing, so much as the attacks had no effect when they hit. He grew tired, and demanded an explanation. The man stated that he wished to help Windallus grow ever stronger, as he had a big part to play. And that Ralidon knew this.

The mention of his mentor. His father. Caused him to realize that this man likely had truth to his words. And so he listened. The cleric stated that, having felt the brunt of his attacks and finding them somewhat lacking, he would like to train Windallus to use his magic to further augment his abilities. Once he is done, his true role would begin. He was part of a group of chosen who would save this world from destruction. But to gather the heroes, he must become their first major obstacle. He must become their enemy to test them and encourage their growth. Once it was done, the gods would intervene and ensure that any damage he did would be reverted.

And so, Windallus, having the briefest glimpse of that shy little boy he used to be in the face of a true purpose, accepted this burden. Taking on a special suit of armor crafted for him by the cleric, he set out to cause trouble to draw out his future allies.

Little did he know, this would be far more trouble than he bargained for.

Current Story
  Betrayed. He had been betrayed.

The hooded man lied. He was serving no greater purpose. He wasn't chosen to gather heroes. He was used to gather an army. And now that he had been defeated, by a child no less, no salvation was in sight. He had come to terms with the idea of dying. It would be a mercy compared to the pain in his mind he was feeling. It got stronger. Stronger and stronger yet. He felt his own thoughts driving him to tears. Reducing him to a silent wreck of a man over his guilt. He yearned for death as some sort of penance for his actions.
... But it never came.
The child refused to strike him down, saying that he refused to perpetuate the cycle that Windallus' master sought to perpetuate. He thus allowed Sturmgard to take Windallus into custody to be tried for his actions. Three weeks later, he is called to his trial. Maybe this would be the execution he so deserved in his own mind.

However, to his shock, there were people who defended him.
The very same people who had him imprisoned. Particularly, the child who had beaten him. Why.
They fought verbally for two days, arguing the case that Windallus had been lead astray. Why.
They succeeded. The judge left him in their custody. Why.
They offered him his equipment back after confiscating it, and asked him to join them.
He opened his mouth for the first time in a month. His voice trembled in conflict with his stoic appearence.
"Why?"

The boy was the first one to answer.
"Because you wanted to do what you felt was right. We can help you do that without seeking your own end."
