Canopus Blight became Commander to Resistance Unit 515 following the death of its former commander, Eva Grinstead. He is a stoic, strong, and intelligent man who's allegiance once belonged to the Sloth-loyalists, the Levlons of Ozarth. However, once it was found out that he was being brainwashed and had been kidnapped by the Supreme Judicator of Ozarth, he revoked all of his titles and joined the Resistance.

HISTORY Born to a Neopian woman named "Laura" and a former Ozarthian Overseer/Judicator named "Polaris", Canopus was born to the two in what seemed to be an "illegal marriage"- as Ozarthians rarely made contact with anyone outside of their own system(s). Polaris, a declared "war criminal" to Ozarth (for his own good intentions), had been fleeing the wrath of the Levlon Empire for many years and because of it, hardly knew his own son. However, on Canopus' 12th birthday, he was surprised by his father and as a gift was taken up to space for the very first time. In Polaris' mind, he had hoped that the many years he had been fleeing from the Levlon Empire, they had either forgotten or let him go- how he was terribly wrong. The Supreme Judicator of Ozarth, who had been the one on his tail for all these years, managed to track him and storm his ship- ultimately murdering him while the defenseless Canopus (who was at the wrong place at the wrong time) was forced to watch his father's death. The Supreme Judicator took Canopus against his will back to Ozarth where she wiped his memories clean and gave him the new name of "Vranes" with the plans to turn him into an Ozarthian loyalist. Mind-wiped and lost, he met the Supreme's child, Feh'lie, and grew up alongside him. Despite Feh'lie knowing Canopus' real identity, he kept it secret (per his mother's wishes and his very own mindset) and the two grew close and inseparable.

Unlike the entire population of Ozarth (Levlons and all) who cannot dream, Canopus was an avid dreamer and even had to endure several "cleanings" in order to get the dreams- or as the Supreme calls them, "distractions", to stop. They never did and Canopus eventually gave up and stuck with the feeling of being an outcast. Over the years, he went through difficult training and became an Ozarthian Overseer, and even a member of the exclusive Corona Corps. Six years later, he began having the strangest dreams of all- visions of a scared man being held by gunpoint as he looks desperately to Canopus- or, Vranes, at the time. Feh'lie, growing rather worried that this may be more than a dream, angrily told Canopus to "get his head out of the clouds" and that it was nothing more than a dream. He agreed, until he dreamt of the coordinates that were on the screen behind the strange man. Behind everyone's backs, Canopus set off to the coordinates in order to "find out his past" as he believed the man to be part of it. All was on track, until he was shot down by a roaming Iccoth Arc and crash landed down onto the seemingly unfamiliar planet of Neopia. A farmhand by the name of Carol saw his crash (which was nearby the farm) and quickly set off to see it in person. She was greeted by the unconscious Vranes/Canopus and took him in, caring for his wounds- (which thankfully for the outstanding Levlon tech he made it out alive). Feh'lie, back on Ozarth, found Canopus' note and became gutted. He then decided to enact his very first Judicator mission to bring Canopus back to Ozarth- before he found out about his past. Feh'lie set off in his own ship and tracked Vranes' ship to Neopia. When greeted by the crashsite, he had originally gone into a panic (in thinking that he died) so he called him with his wrist-radar. Canopus answered, but told Feh'lie to return back to Ozarth before "punishment would be put on both of them". Knowing that his friend was close to finding out the truth- his truth, he unhappily put Canopus' chip number (unknown to Canopus that he had, but was inserted by the Supreme) into the wrist radar and began tracking him on foot.

Canopus had told Carol about the strange man and the word he heard in the background- which was "Blight" and she agreed to help him find him. The two set off, whilst unknowingly being tracked by Feh'lie. The path lead them to the name of the man named Prof. Blight- as well as his address. Canopus and Carol journeyed to the address, only to be greeted by a grieving woman- Canopus' birth mother. She told him everything; his father's identity and past, his real name (Canopus) and how she knew in her heart that her son had been alive all this time. Canopus began to remember everything; his childhood, his parents, and the incident that occurred the night he was taken.
Then, he was then summoned by Fehlie (via wrist-radar) and Canopus told Feh'lie that he knew everything, and to his own heartbreak, Feh'lie said that he did too and never told. After a grueling battle, Canopus stopped the fight by firing a bullet into Fehlie's chest and placing him back into his ship, where he allowed Feh'lie to seal the bullet wound. He typed in the coordinates for Ozarth and told Feh'lie to tell the Supreme that Canopus wouldn't be returning- in person, and that he will never speak to Feh'lie again. It was a terrible separation, and true to his word, the two have remained apart for many, many years. Canopus soon after joined the Resistance and became a Commander, serving "the right side"- or so he was lead to originally think.
