Quark has never left the village of Vhintl and its forest, and he’s never felt the need to. His early life was quite boring and uneventful. He spent most of his days keeping to himself and foraging when bored. Days seemed to meld together, years passed, disasters happened, and yet the Korok’s behavior remained unchanged.

In the year 999 AB during one of Quark’s usual strolls through the village, he encountered a Hylian who was giving away some of their belongings. Their grandmother had recently passed away and they felt they needed a change of scenery. They planned to travel to Inariko, but they would need to travel light. Throwing anything out during these trying times would be a waste, so they were giving away their non-essentials to the other villagers.

Among the items that were left were a few beautifully intricate blankets; Quark had never seen anything like them before and excitedly asked probably about a thousand questions about them and how they were made. The Hylian explained their grandmother was quite the seamstress and made quite a few blankets in her time, but most of them were too warm to ever really use in such a humid environment. After seeing Quark’s eagerness to learn more about the blankets, the Hylian not only gave them to Quark, but some of their grandmother’s old tools as well. They offered to show Quark what they knew about weaving before they left for Inariko.

Quark continued to learn more about weaving, sewing, and any other similar crafts after the Hylian left. He visited other Weavers in the Vhintl village to ask them for tips and processes to make different types of fabrics. Before, Quark had no desire to learn how to change into his Kokiri form, but there was only so much he could do in his Korok form as a weaver. When he was finally able to transform, he was absolutely elated and dove head first into learning several new techniques now that he had more than two fingers.

The time that Quark used to spend doing nothing, was now taken up entirely by his weaving. He had never been so captivated by something and fell in love with the process of creating something that could be used by either himself or others. He took deep pride in making sure anything that he made was of the highest quality for his current abilities. It wasn’t uncommon for him to hole up in his house for several days working on a single project.

Luckily, Quark wasn’t at home during the fires that rocked the forest and village of Vhintl as he was visiting his Hylian friend in Inariko. Unfortunately, his house would not be intact when he returned to the village. It along with all of his current projects and supplies had been burned to a crisp. Quark was devastated and salvaged when he could, but he basically had to start from scratch all over again. It would be a while before his new home was built, so he started looking for a place to stay…
