Profile

A calm and softspoken cat.

Mantisgaze is another enigma within the clan, and for multiple reasons. There aren't many non-clanborne cats in Ironclan, or within the other clans for that matter, so they definitely stick out.

Mantisgaze has a certain aura around them that tends to put cats on edge. A chill in the air, a tingling static on the skin. Mantisgaze's presence is a commanding one, and their tall stature and toned build only further this. Their vibrant green eyes and striking markings are other things that make them standout. From the array of scars puckering their pelt, to their gently tufted ears and pristine white fur, Mantisgaze is both a fierce and beautiful cat who tends to draw the attention of others wherever they go. In addition, a running joke within the clan is that everyone's had a massive crush on Mantisgaze at some point. Mantisgaze themself is laughably dense and not at all aware of this.

They're a quiet cat as well, and not the most expressive outwardly. However cats who are close to Mantisgaze really know that they're just a goofy, dense dumbass. When Mantisgaze warms up to a cat, they're surprisingly very very talkative, and can ramble if hours if not stopped. Mantisgaze prefers to talk in signs most often though, and in direct contrast to their outward apperance, their signs are very expressive (speeding up or becoming more pronounced when excited, stilted when nervous, sloppy/soft when sad, etc)

|| History ||

Mantisgaze, previously Wolf, originated from a group of loners who have set up camp north of Ironclan territory. Wolf had fled this loner clan and was taking shelter in Ironclan territory after being wounded (the scar across their face). They were then found and captured by a Ironclan patrol and brought to camp. They were held it custody for a moon, and refused to answer questions about anything regarding the loner clan. Not out of protecting the loner clan, but seemingly because they couldn't bring themself to talk about it. When pressed for information, Wolf would grow overwhelmed and sometimes spiral into a panic attack. (They still don't like to talk about it, but have at times hinted about what went on in the loner clan) Wolf was never violent towards any of the clan cats though, and actually rather polite and amiable.

Eventually Wolf asked if they could join the Ironclan. Many were against this at first, but Dustcall, who had become friends with Wolf during this time, vouched that they were actually a good cat and had no intention of returning to the loner clan. Waspstar, a cat who believes in giving others second chances, complied with Wolf's request.

Wolf was beyond the usual apprentice age, and after being tested, appeared to already have many fighting skills and techniques down to a pat. Therefore, after giving them some breifing on clan rules, traditions, and such, Wolf went straight into being a warrior and has their name changed to Mantisgaze. Waspstar asked if Mantisgaze wanted to keep 'Wolf' as the prefix of their name, but they vehemently declined- they wanted to start over completely.

___

After all their time spent in Ironclan, Mantisgaze has revealed to a close few cats what happened in the loner clan, and why they left (although only the basics). Mantisgaze said the loners had a hierarchical system with a leader, but with multiple deputies and factions within the group. Wolf was one of the higher ups, fifth in command under the leader. Wolf was found by one of the deputies at a young age, and taken in. From there, Wolf said, they were trained to fight and kill, and were used as an "attack dog" or different bands on loners (or whoever Wolf's deputy wanted them to rough up). They were soon dubbed Wolf by this deputy for their large size and feral nature.
