Personality: Artemis is a quiet, reserved individual. Given that her twin sister was the only real constant in her life, she has a particularly close connection to her twin. The only other equine with whom she has had as close a connection with was her secret childhood friend, Malachite, who later became more than just a friend. Especially with the birth of her four children, Artemis has made an effort to connect with other members of her family, but with everything going on and her own somewhat shy nature, it hasn't exactly been easy.

History: Though the daughter of the Light King, Aranu and his second Queen, Avalon, this was not a fact that Artemis or her twin sister, Astraea, had any knowledge of growing up. Her first memories were of herself, her twin and a mare that, at the time, she knew only as protector in a high mountain cavern. She and her twin were still quite young, albeit weaned early, when they were taken to the Versai, where they lived until a year old. They were never long in any particular Versai herd, constantly moving from one herd in the Highlands to another, though never knowing why. During this time, Artemis managed to sneak away from vigilant Versai watch and made her way to Dimato Meadow where she met Malachite. It was not long before the two were fast friends, meeting as frequently as possible. While Art shared absolutely everything else with her twin, for reasons she could not quite explain, she never shared the information of this friend to Astraea.

All was well... at least, as well as could be expected under the circumstances. Until the day that the duo were en route from Rosemonde to the next herd they would be spending a little while at, but they never made it. Along the way, they and their escorts were attacked; the twins soon found themselves taken to a place wherein they would be captive for quite some time before rescue came at last. At first, they were captive alongside a stallion they would eventually learn was none other than a half-brother they had never known existed before. He was nearly killed by Galaga, but managed to escaped. In time, rescue for the twins also came, freeing them from Galaga.

Homecoming was... strange. For while Rain Forest Beach should have been their home from the beginning, the situation with Galaga had meant their father had not even known they existed until Eos had told him of the duo being taken by their uncle. Meeting equines who were family, yet complete strangers, was strange to say the least. Surprisingly, there was one familiar equine in Rain Forest Beach. Malachite. Having difficulty processing everything, she had been meandering while her twin was resting and that was when she bumped into her childhood friend within the boundaries of Rain Forest Beach. In his company she found solace from all that she was trying to process and of frightening memories of the past number of months. She had been doing her best to remain strong, not wishing to burden members of her family, especially her twin and Aearion, who had endured just as much as she had. With this friend who knew her so well, she finally was able to find the comfort she needed, without even realizing she had needed it.

True to a promise of telling him all that had befallen her over the past number of months which she made him that night, when morning came, Artemis took Malachite to Pahaendeline in order to show him where she and Astraea had been kept. Unfortunately, the duo never made it that far. Along the way, they were intercepted by The Surgeon, whose target was Malachite. While Artemis could have gone home, the idea of leaving her beloved friend to face captivity alone was not one she could countenance and thus she went with him. Though The Surgeon never hurt her - and left Malachite alone for the most part as well - it certainly was not a pleasant experience. For Artemis, there was an added layer of difficulty due to the memories that such captivity conjured. All things considered, perhaps it was unsurprising that the duo found comfort in each other, soon enough in a more... intimate fashion.

In due time, they were allowed to return to Rain Forest Beach after Malachite's mother made something of a deal with their captor, though they never learned the details. Suffice to say that they finally made it home. Unfortunately, it was not long after that when Malachite vanished. And then Artemis learned that she was pregnant. Coping was difficult without Mal, though she will always be very grateful to her family, especially her twin and her grandmother, who helped her through this time. Bringing four foals into the world was almost beyond her ability - and no doubt a shock - but she managed somehow, just as she managed to raise the four with the support of her family, though things have continued to be tumultuous for the members of the Light Royal family, especially since the disappearance of Aranu, requiring a new King, while Nixi stepped up to take her mother, Lexi's, place. What will transpire now, whether they will ever find their father, whether war will come to the Light Kingdom as it came to the Neutral Kingdom... only time will tell.
