The rise of chain cafes has spread all across England, and with one those settling down in the small borough of Brent, the already existing Cafe Filou now has a fierce competitior. The competition has appears to have drawn away custmomers from Cafe Filou! And as if one misfortune wasn't enough, an injury has made Ms. Minamoto unable to work, and back pain seems to haunt Mr. Minamoto daily.
Wanting to relief her parents from their stress, Fumika, their daughter, decided to dedicate herself fully to the job of keeping their family cafe running. She first decided to recruit her trusted friend Florence, who had just recently been fired, to work at the cafe. Together, they devised a plan to make their cafe stand out and came up with a new concept based on their shared love for books: A bookstore cafe!
With Fumika's parents' consent, they set up new bookshelves filled with kindly donated books, changed the cafe's name and off they go. Thus, "Bookstore- Cafe Filou" came to be! The two now try to navigate themselves through the hardships of running a cafe; from buying ingredients, baking, cleaning, planning-- to serving the customers, of course with a little help with each of their families!

Fumika is preferably drawn in her full design with all the accesories and her usual clothes (as in ref), though minor simplifications are also appreciated as well. A feminine build (art- style wise) suit her best.

Fumika is very protective and loyal to those around her. She cares a lot about her about her small social circle and would to do anything for them. She isn't one to overlook one in need of help and approaches adversities hands-on. She's easy to talk to but it's hard to get her to fully open up to you.
Fumika tries her best for everyone to have peace. That would unfortunately include meddleling with other's affairs hoping to help them, wether you want it or not. She also tends to deviate from given instructions, doesn't matter if her solution is more practical or not. As long as she thinks the idea is great...
Fumika cares a lot about her loved ones and shows it with her actions. She listens well and tries to give geniuine solutions. She can be a bit too idealistic and naive in that matter so that solution might not be the best for everyone. Fumika also finds it hard to be comfortable in social situations.

Story
壹
Family business
Fumika grew up watching her parents work in their family Cafe. She admired her parents who were able to create such beautiful and intricate dishes that pleases one’s eyes. In her eyes, that was the most wonderful thing you could create so she often pleaded with her parents to let her help out. Through that, Fumika has gained an eye for decorating and arranging plates, which was her favourite part of “working”.
As she grew older, she started being assigned more tedious tasks, that unfortunately, are what match the reality of keeping a Cafe more. Cleaning, washing dishes, sweeping the floor, waking up early to prepare ingredients. Fumika realised that she too, would have to do all the tasks as the Cafe owner one day. That left a salty aftertaste in her mouth that replaced the sweet, childish wonder she once felt. But knowing just how much her parents treasured their shared Cafe, Fumika can’t help but keep those thoughts to herself. She believed that as the eldest daughter, she has to be mature and listen to her parents.

School life
At school, Fumika has proved herself to be average in most aspects, she had great friends, normal grades that her parents always made sure to praise her for and also blended in well in terms of athleticism. She was especially sociable and outgoing towards new students and old ones alike, which made her popular amongst her peers.
Things slowly shifted as Fumika advanced grades. People come and go, and the loyal friends she made over her few years at school all move away with the exception of one who also started distancing herself. She was excluded by the boys in class who didn’t like her unrealistic, overly idealistic and pacifistic ideas. She was excluded by the girls who mocked her plain appearance and her lacking knowledge of their culture. Fumika felt the world around her turn distant, as the attention she used to get disappeared, and she grew hesitant to socialise. She was consoled by her parents who encouraged her to start anew somewhere new, at St. Antonia, an all- girls boarding school.
Coming in at a prestigious boarding school was no easy task as Fumika still struggled with socializing. Fortunately, she’s quickly found herself a new friend group, which she grew comfortable with over time. It was through them that Fumika discovered herself, and started picking up new interests like playing tennis and reading novels, which was an especially hot topic amongst their group. Fumika also started learning wood carving, which she loved for its beautiful shapes and intricacy. She viewed it with the same child-like eyes as she once did when she watched her parents prepare desserts.

Adult life
Upon finishing school, Fumika immediately started working full- time at their family business. She’s already accepted her duty to take over the family business, but is planning to compromise for it, seeing how her little sister has a similar fascination for their Cafe. In her spare time, Fumika also practices woodcarving, which she sells in the Cafe and also occasionally gifts to its guests. She is hesitant to follow a path of her passion, as both her interests, wood- carving and writing, are viewed as ‘male’ jobs, for which she fears won’t get accepted as a woman.
