Nikolas is the Royal Executioner to the crown. Though his loyalties the the crown are shifty at best, becoming increasingly more skeptical of the king and his motives as time went on. So much so, it only took a gentle nudge and some friendship from Calliope for him to shift his allegiances and join the rebel cause. Currently, Calliope and him are very close.
