Perhaps there’s an irony to guiding people to the right path, while being lost yourself. Irene, now going by Infir, was a mortal woman who ascended to godhood after death as a result of an extreme emotional desire to reunite with a friend she’d lost. To her dismay, when she met him again, he was a completely different person from the one she’d missed for so long. So, stuck as a goddess and unable to figure out what to do with herself, she devoted herself to helping others find their way, whether physically or spiritually, where she could not.
Despite being known as the goddess of wanderers, her image is rarely known among mortals, more being known as a comforting presence or a soft flickering light that helps guide someone out of darkness. To keep her face and form a secret, when returning to the mortal plane she doesn’t simply use her former mortal appearance, but instead adopts the appearance of a woman she once helped, unintentionally causing some confusion when it comes to the other woman’s reputation.

Isamu Shimizu – Lost to his ambition. Irene no longer cares for Isamu, regretting that he became someone she no longer finds familiar. He treats her like any other being below him, not even recognizing her face. It hurts, but she’s made peace with it, instead being rightfully irritated with his attitude and behavior. She doesn’t think he has any right to be treating the other gods, or even anyone else, the way he does. She remembers his humble beginnings, even if he’s tried to erase all traces of them.

Sola Vox – Borrowing her face. Irene first saw the mortal woman when responding to a prayer searching for guidance out of a dark forest, she’d gotten distracted and wandered off the path, and so Irene helped lead her back to where she was headed. When deciding on a disguise for going back to the mortal realm, she decided it wouldn’t harm anyone if she posed as that woman, and so made Sola’s image her go-to for disguises. At most, it’s caused a bit of confusion when it comes to where Sola’s been here and there, and maybe a few strange conversations with other gods, but nothing too bad. Irene’s thought about telling the mortal, but she’s nervous about how the woman would take the news.

Namtare – A shadow, trailing behind her. The god of rebirth seemed to come into their own power around the time Infir did, and so the two bonded over being the ‘new kids on the block’, basically. She offered to help edit the novel they’re writing, and the friendship sort of blossomed from there, and they’ll get into extensive conversations about the fictional world that Namtare’s crafted and allowed Infir to help shape alongside them, rambling on and on to each other about ideas for twists and turns and so on. Infir only makes a note to stay out of whatever long-winded rants Namtare will get on about the romantic chemistry between their characters. That’s something not even she has the bravery to mess with.
