Forever Homed
Slinky and Luna are a variety of shadow spirits called darhan and can only be sighted on the nights of a new moon in areas unpopulated by people. In order to ever encounter one up close, some sort of ritual (that’s yet to have the specifics determined) has to be performed. Paz and Reloj encountered darhan through this ritual as children, and two of the darhan followed them home. The shadow critters have been showing up in Paz and Reloj’s homes at night ever since–even after they’ve moved different times. But it’s fine; the two critters are basically their pets, now. Paz named the bird-cat-lizard “Luna,” and Reloj named the eyeful rabbit-cat “Slinky.”
They have about the level of intelligence of a cat.
Appear more opaque the closer it is to a new moon, and more transparent the closer it is to a full moon.
They're sexless beings with no concept of gender, but Paz and Reloj refer to them with feminine terminology
