Overview

Born and raised under the big top, Avalon has performance beating through her blood from a heart that runs on spinning gears—so maybe it's just grease in her veins, actually. She's most comfortable on stage, where she takes on the name Dahlia and spins on silks and hoops and trapezes as half of the troupe's duo of Infernal Aerialists, but she's happiest elbow-deep in the cogs of some new machine with a wrench in hand. As Dahlia, she effortlessly makes everyone she meets fall in love with her; her charisma as a performer is unmatched. This leaves any normal person interaction at an awkward in-between: Avalon has absolutely no idea how to interact with people if she isn't acting, so when the mask comes off, she's short and flippant at best, and sometimes actively cruel just out of a general sense of uncaring.

Avalon has followed her impulses from the circus to the Iron City of Gears to the circus and out into the world again to ransack it for treasure. Ever mercurial, she exists as a walking contradiction—in no small part because she's easily influenced, though she'd never admit it if she did realize it. At her core, Avalon is selfish, though, possessive and prideful and more than willing to boast about it; her prowess as a mechanic could carry her wherever she wanted but at the end of the day, she refuses to work on something she can't have.

With her girlfriend and partner in crime lost and likely dead after making her own way to scale the treacherous Stairway to Babylon alone following an explosive argument, Avalon has returned to her roots as a performer and taken up solo aerial dancing shows to make a living and keep her traveling across Melchiorus. Adventure yet waits for her, though, when pirates board a luxury cruise liner and she rescues a noble from a fellow passenger's assassination attempt just before the ship goes down—and, easily swayed, Avalon is thrilled to follow the winds of change pushing her along and up into the skies.

  • Goes without her glasses more often than not—unless she's in immediate need of them (ex. reading or working on mechanics), they stay off..
  • Tail isn't prehensile, but strong and dextrous enough for her to, for example, balance key rings off of, or shake to twirl jewelry and ribbons for her performances.
  • Lots of freckles, mostly across her face, shoulders, and chest.
  • Pink rose tattoo on the left side of her neck.
  • For the most part she only wears her jewelry when she performs—and she wears lots of it, shiny things that jangle—but she's always wearing at least a couple of earrings. Very rarely does she wear matching pairs, though.
