Lilith

A tall, feminine individual with waves of long black hair. Her eyes are grey and clouded over, appearing lifeless. Her arms bear sleeve tattoos of red-violet veins. Unlike residents of Overworld, her ears are round. As such, she often keeps her ears covered with a head scarf or a hat when visiting the world of the living.

Her true form is a salamander-like, six-legged creature that is 20 feet from head to tip of tail. In this form, her skin is oil black, with red markings up the length of her back. Her eyes are still grey in this form.

• She prefers suits, slacks, and other such business clothing.
• She uses 'she/her' pronouns out of habit, but does not care how others perceive her.
• Her favorite article of clothing is a white neck scarf with red and green stripes.
• She is unable to be burned. Lethal heat and lava are what she considers room temperature.
• She pays great attention to how she dresses.

She has a flat affect. Shows of extreme emotion are rare to her. Even at her angriest, she only appears mildly annoyed. She is reserved, and shows affection mostly through encouragement or brief, reassuring touches. Most have the impression that she doesn't care for anything, but she does, and she has a very strong guilty conscience.

She is driven by obligation to her job of ferrying ghosts to Otherworld, and by the need to care for her young daughter. During Knight of Luluto, she also works to withhold peace and justice in Invierna by striking down anyone who tries to tamper with the cycle of life in death. She believes that any means justifies the ends, no matter how brutal.

She fears disruptance in the life/death cycle, which could lead to disaster in both Otherworld and Overworld. She is also afraid that she will return to her old, violent ways, or that her daughter will be found out by the other demons.

Lilith was originally known as Catalina, and was a demon whose job is to punish sinners in the living world--or even to kill them. She appeared as a huge chimera, with the body of a lion, the tail of a snake, the wings of a dragon, the legs of a crow, the claws of a bear, and the head of an antelope skull. It was difficult for her to conceal her true form while in Otherworld, and often felt out of place among the other demons--even her own kind. She who had witnessed much cruelty from mortals over the eons became depressed and withdrawn.

One day, Simulacra, one of the local devils--a divine being who can return matter to nothing--gave her the task of punishing the king and queen of Agartha. They had become careless and greedy in their ways. The Catalina had not been given the details, only directions on where to go and what to do. She crept into the royal palace, only to realize that her task was to kill and consume the infant princess. When she looked upon the sleeping child, she felt guilt for the first time. Rather than eat her, she kidnapped her and spread blood on her cradle, to make it look like she had done her job.

Shortly after she returned to Otherworld, she requested that she be removed from the Catalina, who are not supposed to feel remorse. Simulacra transformed her into a Lilith, a demon whose job is to ferry souls from Overworld to Otherworld.

• She was once incapable of guilt. When she felt it for the first time, she knew she could no longer perform her previous job.
  
• Primarily goes by 'she', but if you see her as a 'they' or even a 'he', she doesn't mind. Sometimes, she uses glamour to change her gender presentation.
• If someone flirts with her, she'll play dumb until she can tell if they're being serious or not.
  
• Ever since becoming a Lilith, she gets cold easily and tends to cover up.
• She's good at looking charming and friendly, but is easily drained by social interactions.
